Volunteers for Kilglass Foróige Club

Kilglass Foróige Club are looking for new volunteers ahead of the new club year. If you can spare some of your time to support the young people in the community, message Jean on 089-2210995 for more information.

Moy Singers

The Moy Singers will be returning shortly after their summer recess and would love to hear from men and women who would be interested in joining the choir. 

They meet weekly on Wednesday evenings and learn to sing and perform new songs for their two annual concerts – Christmas and Spring. In 2026, they will celebrate their 40th anniversary and would love to have some new faces, especially the menfolk. For details, contact Evelynm on 085-2445286.

Baby Boppers

There are limited places available for the Baby Boppers classes starting on Friday, September 13, in Kilglass Hub. There will be two classes, one for babies and one of toddlers.

These classes promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. It improves motor skills, co-ordination, and balance. Moreover, it allows children to express themselves creatively and develop self-confidence and self-esteem. It is a lovely opportunity to get to know other parents and guardians in the locality.

Blotto

The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw, which was held on Sunday, August 18, were 3, 5, and 43. There was no jackpot winner. 

The €25 prizewinners were Edmund Kelly, Sharleen Foody, Jean Lynott and Nora Coyne. The jackpot in the latest draw, which was held on Sunday, August 25, was €7,000.

CE Scheme opportunity in Enniscrone

IRD North Mayo-West Sligo, which trades as Moy Valley Resources, has a position available on its Community Employment Scheme in Enniscrone. The vacancy is for a caretaker/cleaner in Enniscrone Family Resource Centre/ Enniscrone Enterprise Centre.

The Moy Valley Resources Community Employment Scheme is designed to provide meaningful work experience, skill development and personal growth opportunities for participants on the scheme.

Those with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and who are eager to learn and make a difference in their community, are invited to apply.

Championship underway

Enniscrone Kilglass GAA Intermediate team had their first game in the Connacht Gold Intermediate Football Championship on Saturday evening last, August 24, when they played St Patrick’s at St Brendan’s GAA Park, Castleconnor at 4.30pm.

The Junior team also got their championship under way when they played Castleconnor in Castleconnor.

The U17 team began the B1 championship with a home game against St John’s on Thursday evening last, August 22, at 7pm.

U15s suffer a heavy defeat

The Enniscrone Kilglass U15 team suffered a heavy defeat at home to Eastern Harps recently in round four of the championship. They then met St Patrick’s/Owenmore Gaels in the Seamie Donegan Memorial Park for their final group game.

Winning streak for U13B team

The Enniscrone Kilglass U13B team continued their winning streak when they hosted Tourlestrane, winning on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-10. They now advance to the cup semi-final which takes place on September 6, when they will play either Geevagh/St Michael’s or St Farnan’s at home.

Defibrillator at Coláiste Iascaigh

The defibrillator at Coláiste Iascaigh has been made accessible and is on the wall at the front door of the school temporarily while they wait a new heated cabinet.

O’Dubhda Challenge

West Sligo Athletics Club are delighted to be bringing back The O’Dubhda Challenge to Enniscrone with a run through the seaside town and the surrounding countryside on October 6th. There is a fabulous route to run covering a 20-miler, half marathon and a 10km, so something for everyone.

Enniscrone Indoor Market

Don’t forget to stop by and grab some freshly brewed coffee or tea to go as well as some delicious homemade treats every Saturday morning from 11am to 3pm at Enniscrone Indoor Market in The Old Church right next door to Checkout. 

There is also homemade crafts, paintings, jewellery and more. Fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh fish are also available.

Church building repairs

The way to support the building repairs being done at Enniscrone Church are to contribute to the second collection taken up at weekends Masses using the Church Building Fund envelopes.

Easkey Enhancement Association

Activities of the Easkey Enhancement Association which take place weekly are: the Writers Group meet every Monday at 7.30pm in the Courthouse; Table Tennis every Wednesday at 8.30pm in the Courthouse; and Wavy Crafters meet every Thursday at 10.30am in the Old Factory. 

New members are always welcome.

Living Alone Friendly Call Service

Sligo LEADER Partnership Company are running a Living Alone Friendly Call Service which covers all of Co Sligo. The service is from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2pm and Friday from 10am to 1.30pm.

Bingo

Bingo is held in the Old Church, Enniscrone, every Tuesday at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm with free tea and coffee on offer. The proceeds are in aid of Western Gaels Hurling and Camogie Club.

West Sligo Young at Heart

Whether it’s for flexibility, core strength or relaxation, join the West Sligo Young at Heart, Dromore West, on a Monday from 11am to 12 noon for chair yoga (they don’t only sit down, unless you choose to). 

If you are feeling more energetic, they have a variety of exercises and activities on Tuesday from 11am to 12 noon, whether it’s walking football, netball or kurling, a good laugh followed by a chat over tea. 

On Wednesday, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, there is always something different going on from sewing, crochet, to darts or cards and plenty more, all with the most important chat, tea and great company. There is also plenty of books available to keep you reading at home.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga continues on Mondays at 10am in The Old Factory, Easkey, and costs €7 per session.

Castleconnor GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in the Castleconnor GAA lotto, which was held on Saturday, August 17 last, were 10, 23, 28 and 35. There was no jackpot winner. 

Congratulations to Pamela and Tom Feeney, Louise Gilmartin and Tinny who all matched three numbers and won €35 each. Mags Burke won €50 in the lucky dip draw. 

The jackpot in the latest draw, which was held on Saturday, August 24, was €23,000.
