Congratulations to Eric Weisser who was last week's winner of the Swinford GAA 50/50 draw held in Moore's. Eric is visiting Swinford on a fishing trip from Brittany, France. He purchased the winning ticket in Mellett's Emporium.

Cathal Kelly departs for Canterbury this weekend to set off on his 2,200km walk to Rome in aid of Mayo Parkinson's and Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin.

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Swinford Community Lotto when the draw was held on June 4th. The numbers drawn were 10, 20, 21 and 30.
The winners of €70 vouchers were David J. Langford, Tulleague and Mary McNicholas, Swinford; €35 was won by Kevin Powell, c/o The Sheepwalk Bar and Maureen Cunningham, Belcarra.
The jackpot is now €14,000.
The official launch of the 40th Siamsa Sráide Street and Arts Festival will take place on Friday, June 21st, at 8.30pm in the White House. All are welcome.
Another weekend of golf with impressive performances in both the men's and women's competitions took place over the June Bank Holiday weekend on Swinford Golf Course.
Gents Competition – Judge Bank Holiday: Francisco Lamarque stood out, remarkably scoring +9, a full seven shots ahead of the nearest competitor. John Sheahan came in second with +2 and Barry Durkan rounded out the top three with +1.
Ladies Competition – O’Hara Cup: Lorena McNicholas led the field with an outstanding score of 42, securing her win for the second consecutive week, Catherine Loftus followed with 33 and Dympna O'Donnell finished strong with 32.
Well done to all who played and supported the events.
The Junior Golf program continues on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm. The programme is designed to nurture young talents and introduce them to golf in a supportive and structured environment.
The Railway Players Variety and Drama Group, in collaboration with Flare Productions and Siamsa Sráide, are planning musical theatre workshops, which will take place during the week before Siamsa Sráide, July 29th to August 2nd (10am to 1pm).
A week of song, dance and drama will culminate in a performance that will be one of the many highlights of the 40th anniversary of Siamsa Sráide. Application forms will be available shortly. In the meantime, names can be sent to railwayplayers2018@gmail.com or dropped into Ray Lambe's.
The exciting talent show, Time to Shine, will once again be staged during Siamsa Sráide this year and, as hoped, this competition is becoming an annual Siamsa event.
The show will be divided into two sections this year: under 16 and 16 and over. The search for talent is beginning this week and entries will close on Friday, July 6th. The Gala Live Final Show will take place on Saturday, August 3rd, at 7pm (juniors) and 9pm (seniors) in Julian’s of Midfield. If you’ve ever felt that you could shine on stage, or if you know someone else who could, now is the time to have a go!
The annual Scoil Cheoil Siamsa will take place during the week before Siamsa Sráide, from July 29th to August 2nd.
Music, singing, dancing and conversational Irish classes will take place between 4pm and 7pm in the Primary School in Swinford (Scoil Muire agus Treasa). Instruments include banjo, bodhrán, button accordion, concertina, fiddle, flute, guitar, tin whistle, harp and keyboard.
Availability of classes depends on level of interest. Classes last an hour and the cost for the week is €35. Dancing with Gráinne Kelly and comhrá gaeilge (conversational Irish) will be free in collaboration with Swinford/Killasser LGFA. Several group performance sessions will be held during the week.

The winner of the Killasser Community Centre 50/50 draw in May was Patricia Smyth, winning €600, with Jack Lawlor and Tiernan Sutherland winning a €20 spot prize each. The next draw takes place on July 7th.

Work is continuing on the Moy Davitts' 50th anniversary book, which will be published later this year.
The book will look back at the five eventful decades of the club’s history. The research committee is on the look-out for material which can be included in the book including old match programmes, press cuttings, articles, team photos, pictures from special trips and events or anything you may have relating to the club’s development over the past number of years.
