The Killasser/Callow Calendar Committee has commenced planning for its 2027 edition.
The annual calendar is now in its fifth year and there is only one subject that could be covered given the year that it is. The theme is 'Killasser/Callow Celebrating Sam'. You are invited to send in any photos of people and places of Killasser and Callow getting ready for, watching, or celebrating the All-Ireland Final.
These can include humorous decorations e.g. decorated silage bales etc.
The committee would also like to include suitable examples of the humour around the match so send any you feel would be appropriate. Please email your pictures or for any further information to Killassercalendar@gmail.com.
Barry Durkin’s Vice-Captain's Day took place on Saturday, August 22, with a very good turnout for both the ladies and gents.
Dympna O'Donnell was the ladies winner and Kevin Feeney was the gents' winner.

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Swinford Community Lotto Draw held on August 24. The numbers drawn were 3, 5, 16 and 27.
Vouchers worth €70 were won by Damien Kearney, Lagcurragh and Geraldine Carter, Market Street; €35 was won by T. Nicholas, Swinford and Kealan Conway, Carrabawn.
The jackpot is now €8,000.
Swinford AC will host the annual Ireland West Three-Quarters Marathon, 10K and 5K on Saturday next, September 5. Registration is open on Eventmaster.
The Three-Quarters Marathon starts at 10am, the 10k will start at 10.15am and the 5k at 10.30am.
Swinford Active Retirement meetings for the over 60’s will return after the summer break on Monday next, September 7, at 2pm in Swinford Golf Club.

Following the extensive community consultation process, a public meeting will take place on Monday next, September 7, at 7.30pm in the Gateway Hotel as the next major step towards forming the new Swinford Community Council.
The meeting is open to everyone living or working in Swinford who is interested in helping to establish the Community Council and shape its future direction. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and agree the proposed structure, composition, representation and governance arrangements.
Agreeing these matters first will give the community a shared understanding of the council’s role, how it will operate, and the range of skills, experience and local knowledge needed among its elected members. This will enable people to make informed nominations that reflect the agreed needs of the new Community Council.
A discussion document outlining the proposals, agenda and next steps will be circulated in advance. It will clearly identify the matters on which participants will be invited to comment or reach agreement. Nominations and the election will not take place on the night. The process will be explained at the public meeting, and nominations will be invited afterwards. This will give people sufficient time to consider the agreed arrangements and make informed decisions. The Swinford Community Council will then be elected at a separate follow-up meeting. Please save the date in your diary.
A 10-week strength and balance programme of pre-set exercises with progression guidance takes place in Swinford Cultural Centre this month.

Congratulations to Swinford’s Breege Rowley who will be bringing her award-winning film 'All Our Yesterdays' to Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Philadelphia this October.
Made in Swinford, the film tells a much wider Irish story, one of memory, resilience, emigration and the lasting connection between Ireland and its diaspora - The Voices of a Town; The Story of a Nation.

Kilmovee
We send warmest congratulations to Sr Eileen Regan, SSJG, on the occasion of her 70th platinum jubilee of her profession to religious life.
The anniversary of her profession took place on August 23 last.
A native of Egool and sister of Michael Regan, Eileen emigrated to Australia in September 1956, where she devoted 55 years to nursing and pastoral ministry. She is now enjoying her retirement in the loving care of St John of God, WA.
We are very proud of Sr Eileen on her remarkable 70 years of faithful service. We wish her many more years of health and happiness.
Congratulations to Andrea Keane and Kyle Gethins who were married in Urlaur Church on Friday, August 14. We extend them every good wish health and happiness into the future.

The Active Age Group meets every Thursday in Kilmovee Community Centre from 11am to 2.30pm.
Come along from 11am for tea/coffee and a chat. There are exercises around midday, lunch at 1pm with Bingo afterwards. It is a lovely way to spend a few hours in good company, get some exercise and a good lunch.
The group looks forward to welcoming you. The cost is €10 a week plus annual membership.

Congratulations to Marian McDermott who won a jackpot of €1,117 in the Moy Davitts 50/50 draw on Saturday, August 22.

Adoration in Bohola returns after the summer break on Wednesday next, September 2, from 10am to 12 noon and from 5 to 10pm. New adorers are always welcome.
On Saturday next, September 5, Swinford AC are holding their annual Three-Quarters Marathon, 10k and 5k and there will be temporary road closures along the route which takes a different path this year due to the closure of the Straide/Ballyvary Road.
The new route will include Carrowgolda to Gorteen and Gorteen to Ardacarra. There will be rolling closures in place around this route. Further detail and maps are available on the Bohola Community Park Facebook page and the Ireland West Three-Quarters Marathon page.
