Pretty Wedding

Congratulations to Katie Holmes, daughter of Teresa and the late Dermot Holmes, Coolcronan, Knockmore, and Kevin Walsh, Ballina, who were married in the Church of Christ the King, Knockmore, on Saturday, July 27. Bridesmaids were Leanne Holmes, Emma Holmes, Rachel Keavney, Ashley Bourke and Amy Barrett. Best man was Kyle Walsh, and groomsmen were Lewis Nealon, Keith Devaney, David Corcoran and Dylan McHale. Flowergirls were Alannah Holmes and Emily Lavelle. Pageboys were Tyler, Jamie and Darragh Holmes. A large number of family, relatives and friends attended the ceremony which was celebrated by Fr Michael Reilly PP., Knockmore. Music for the ceremony was provided by Niamh Langan and Fineinn Quinn. The happy couple are wished every happiness for their future years together.

Summer Camp

A jam-packed Summer Camp will kick off next Monday, August 12, at Ardagh GAA grounds for boys and girls aged between 5-12. It promises to be a hugely enjoyable event with GAA, soccer, rounders, tag rugby, dodgeball and many more fun games all included. The event, which will conclude on Friday, August 15, will be filled with numerous fun-filled activities for all to enjoy.

There was no outright winner of Ardagh GAA Club's July monthly lotto draw held last week. The numbers drawn were 16, 24, 11, and 14. Lucky €50 winners were Brendan O'Boyle and Margaret and Michael Clarke. Congratulations to the winners. The lotto is a vital means of raising necessary finance for the club and officials express their sincere gratitude to everyone who continues to support the fundraiser.

 There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday, July 27, in The Thatch Bar. The numbers drawn were 1, 8, 21 and 23. One ticket matched three numbers Aiden and Caroline Heffernan, Castlehill, Ballina, and they won €150.

County U16C Championship Group C game

This was a fast open game of football in this County U16 C Championship Group 2 played in Gilmartin Park on Thursday last. Kiltmagh lead by a point 0-6 to 0-5 with Conor Hession scoring three points and Jack Shannon two and Jonah Gill one. Crossmolina scores were Tom Burke, Joseph Loftus and Eanna O’Boyle points each and two from Ethan Reilly. The crucial score in this low scoring game came two minutes after the break with a goal from Ethan Reilly. Jack Shannon reduced the lead with a point. Ethan Reilly, Joseph Loftus and Peadar Fergus added points in between. Conor Hession scored three points and Conn McDermott also scored three points for the hosts. Dylan Keane and Ethan Reilly tacked on a further four points in the last ten minutes after going three points down in that time to win by two in the end after a couple of missed chances. The final score was Crossmolina 1-12, Kiltimagh 0-13.

County Minor championship

Claremorris scored one of the fastest goals in the County Minor Championship inside half a minute from Davy Byrne straight from the throw in. Kobe McDonald replied with a point and played a crucial part in setting up the pass for Oisin Deans goal after a 60m run in the sixth minute. Davy Byrne pointed. Kobe McDonald and Davy Byrne continued to trade points. Oisin Deane grabbed his second goal in the 15th minute. Jack Comer and Adam Mills tacked on points and Sean O’Connell raised a green flag for south Mayo side in the 26th minute. There were further points from Davy Byrne and Oisin Deane and this left the half time score 3-6 to 2-07.

Davy Byrne tied the score in the fourth minute in with his second point in a couple of minutes. Kobe McDonald and Davy Byrne swopped points. Luke Williams came off the bench and was on hand to finish a great team move to the net. Kobe McDonald and Adam Mills traded points with Davy Byrne two and Sean O’Connell one to leave just three points separating the sides after a great contest which puts the Deel-Siders into county semi final against Westport. The final score was Crossmolina 4-10, Claremorris 2-13.
