Local Notes: Stunning image of Enniscrone picks up award

A six-week Teens Connect wellness programme for young people aged 13 to 17 will take place on Enniscrone beach, starting Thursday, August 6, at 6.30pm.
It is a chance to get outdoors, try new activities, meet new people and take some time for yourself. The programme includes surfing, yoga, woodland activities and connection and wellbeing. To find out more and book your place via www.eventbrite.ie. Spaces are limited.
The death took place of Pauline O’Halloran, Kinard Place, Kinard, Enniscrone and formerly of Kilrush, Co Clare and Woodford, Essex, UK on July 12, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.
Pauline was predeceased by her father Martin O’Halloran, Kilrush, Co Clare. She will be sadly missed by her mother Ann (Ard na Greine Nursing Home, Enniscrone), brother Neil and sisters Linda, Martina and Sharon, her many nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Pauline reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Thursday, July 16, from 3pm with removal to the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone at 4.30pm. Requiem Mass was held on Friday morning at 11am followed by burial in All Saints New Cemetery, Kilrush, Co Clare.
May she rest in peace.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, July 19, were 3, 19 and 36.
There was no jackpot winner and the €25 prizewinners were Marie Farrell, Noreen McHugh, Patsy Mullaney, and Susan and Kristina.

The Enniscrone Tidy Towns committee extend special thanks to the Enniscrone Surf Lifesavers Club who got up early on Sunday, July 19, to held with the ‘Sunday Morning Beach Clean’.
There was over 30 young people out on Enniscrone beach and dunes picking up litter. They found it difficult to understand why some people fail to take their rubbish off the beach when they leave to go home. After they completed the ‘beach clean’, they went for their surf lifesaving lessons and thereafter, they enjoyed the ice-creams provided courtesy of ‘Offshore Coffee & More’.

The Fairy House Handicraft summer camp for little artists, aged 5-12, will take place from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, from 10a to 2pm, at Kilglass Parish Community Centre, Kilglass.

Journey back in time to explore plant traditions with palaeoecologist Dr Carla Sa Ferreira at Kilglass House for a free workshop ‘Getting Back To Our Roots’, on Saturday, August 22, from 2 to 5pm.
The workshop will consist of a foraging walk in Kilglass House Woodland, learn about traditional herbal remedies, identify edible plants, learn about plant traditions – uses of plants and folklore. Refreshments will be served made from foraged edible plants, and there will be natural tea making (bring your own mug).

The Naughton Academy are starting a class in The Old Church in Enniscrone on September 17. Learn traditional Irish dance with Laura Naughton, two-time World Champion dancer.
Naughton Academy was established by Lisa Naughton in 2016, with sister Laura joining in 2018, and is associated with Cumann Rince Naisiunta. The classes are suitable for children aged 4+ and all abilities are welcome.
