Stokane NS continue their strong tradition of supporting the Christmas Shoebox Appeal again this year. Their kindness will bring joy to children who need it most.

Christmas Tree of Remembrance

The turning on of the lights for the Christmas Tree of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, November 29. There will be Mass at 7pm in the Church of the Holy Family, followed by a festive community gathering in the Kilglass Parish Community Hub for the official turning on of the Kilglass Christmas Lights. There will be mulled wine and a mince pie reception. Everyone is welcome.

Raffle Alert

Win a pair of tickets to the sold out Amble concert on December11 in the 3Arena, Dublin, in aid of Jesus and Mary Secondary School. The school extend thanks to Oisin McCaffrey, Amble band member and proud past pupil for his generosity donating these tickets to the school. The raffle ticket costs €12 and the draw will take place on December 1.

Enniscrone Christmas Market

The Enniscrone Christmas Market will be held on Saturday, December 6, 13, and 20 with lots of food, treats, crafts and gifts on offer, at the Old Church, Main Street, Enniscrone, from 11am to 3pm. Stand Up Awareness Week

Last week, Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, were proud to take part in Stand Up Awareness Week, celebrating inclusion, empathy and kindness. The students and staff wore the colours of the Pride Flag to show support for LGBTQ+ students and to stand together against homophobic bullying.

By living the message of ‘Bi Cineálta’ (Be Kind), they are helping to create a school where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. This is another important step in promoting the government’s new ‘Bi Cineálta’ anti bullying policy and building a culture of compassion in the school community.

Comhairle na nÓg Youth Conference

Eight student council members of Jesus and Mary Secondary School attended the Comhairle na nÓg annual youth conference 2025 which was held in the Radisson Hotel, Sligo, recently. The event which was organised by The Crib Youth Project provided a fantastic opportunity for young people from across the county to come together, share ideas, and discuss the issues that matter most to them. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they extend thanks to Ms Corr, Student Council Co ordinator and Nicola Tuffy for accompanying and supporting them on the day.

Credit Union Art Competition

Colaiste Iascaigh were delighted to announce that the presentation for the National Credit Union Art Competition has taken place and they extend congratulations to their talented students; 1st in the `14-17 age group was Silvia Macias Valero and 2nd Riah McCarron. Also winner in the 14-17 age group were 1st Kevin Lee Sweeney and 2nd Declan Stenson. The school thank everyone who attended and supported the students. Following the presentation Kevin Lee Sweeney and Silvia Macias Valero’s artwork will be advancing to the Chapter Level in Manorhamilton for further judging.

Blotto

The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, November 9, were 11, 17 and 34. There was no winner of the jackpot and the €25 winners were Adrian Scott, Tom McManus, Mary Kavanagh, and Paul and Dee Shaughnessy. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, November 16, was €9000.

Gentle Yoga Flow

New Superior General

Warmest wishes are extended to Sr Carmen Munoz, RJM as she beings her role as Superior General of the congregation of Jesus and Mary (2-25-2031). Sr Carmen visited Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone in 2023, reminding students of their deep connection to the JM international community and encouraging them to be courageous in spreading the message of St Claudine Thevenet. During her visit, she spoke warmly about the strong sense of pastoral care, unity and kindness that defines the school community.

All at Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, wish Sr Carmen and the new General Council of the Religious of Jesus and Mary every success and blessing in the years ahead.

New shop at McGowan Park

Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC are delighted to have installed their new shop at McGowan Park. They aim to have it open during all their games through the winter serving teas, coffees and hot chocolate as well as some treats. Card and cash will be accepted.

The shed was built by local man Stephen O’Dowd and his company ‘Bespoke Outdoor Entertainment Areas’ and it is a fantastically well built unit. Sean Egan Electrical wired in the power and as usual a top job from Sean. The club ask people to keep both these great supporters of the club in mind.

Enniscrone Holistic Fair

Enniscrone Holistic Fair will be held on Sunday, December 7, in the Old Church, Enniscrone, F26 EW67, from 1 to 4.30pm. There will be Rahanni Healing, Sound Healing, Reiki Healing, IET (Integrated Energy Therapy), Breathwork, Reflexology, Spiritual Medium and Vendor Stalls.

Gratitude Gala

Jennifer Scott Howley is hosting a Gratitude Gala in aid of the Acquired Brain Injury Unit in Sligo on Saturday, November 22 in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone. Jennifer is feeling grateful 10 years later and a life that she thought she would never have without the help of her family, friends and the wonderful Aquired Brain Injury Unit and their team in Sligo. Jennifer is hoping to raise €10,000 for the 10 years of gratitude, 10 for 10.

Chair Yoga

There is a new chair yoga class starting on Tuesdays at 11am in Kilglass Digital Hub and Community Centre. This class is perfect for beginners and those with limited mobility. They will be starting with some breathwork, and will move through some gentle yoga poses and finish off with relaxation. The price per class is €10. Contact Ellie on 083 0256226 for more information. Fun Fitness Dance classes

The late Patricia (Dolly) Langan nee Goodwin

The death has taken place of Patricia (Dolly) Langan nee Goodwin, Castletown, Corballa, peacefully at Ard na Greine Nursing Home, Enniscrone, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Martin, brothers Edwin, John and Michael.

Patricia (Dolly) will be deeply mourned by her loving son Michael, daughter-in-law Catherine, grandchildren Thomas, Matthew, Darragh and Katie, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Dolly’s remains reposed at Gallaghers Funeral Home, Bonniconlon on Wednesday, November 12, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Her remains arrived at the Church of St Joseph, Castleconnor, for 11am Requiem Mass, on Thursday with burial afterwards in Bonniconlon Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

On behalf of everyone at Castleconnor GAA Club they express their deepest condolences to the Langan family on the sad passing of Dolly. Their thoughts are with her son Michael, daughter-in-law Catherine, grandchildren Thomas, Matthew, Darragh abnd Katie, and all her extended family and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
