Former rugby legend Keith Wood got a hole-in- one at Enniscrone Golf Club last week. Keith was presented with a flag by the men's captain Jim Browne. His transition from the rugby pitch to the golf course continues to inspire many and this latest acheivement adds another highlight to his storied career.

Baby Boppers coming to Kilglass

Baby Boppers is coming to Kilglass Community Centre with sensory, music and movement classes for babies and toddlers. This class is excellent for children’s development, the singing and dancing and making little friends is great for the children and an excellent way to get them moving. O’Dubhda Challenge

West Sligo Athletics Club are delighted to be bringing back The O’Dubhda Challenge to Enniscrone with a run through the seaside town and the surrounding countryside on October 6. There is a fabulous route to run covering a 20 miler, half marathon and a 10km, so something for everyone. To register contact West Sligo Athletic Club.

West Sligo Athletics Club are delighted that Enniscrone and District Community Council were awarded €150,000 under the Community Recognition Fund to provide lighting and walk ways around the West Sligo Athletics Club Track. This will make for safer winter training and security for the public while out and about in the area. Congratulations are extended to everyone involved in the application. The club looks forward to seeing these lights in use very soon.

First training at Western Gaels new pitch

Western Gaels new pitch got its first training session last week and there will be many more to come in the future. There is camogie for U8s, U10s and U13s and boys U7s, U9s and U11s. This is the future of the club and the club are working to make the conditions much better for these young players in the future. The late Patsy (Patricia) Scott

The death has taken place of Patsy (Patricia) Scott nee Finnegan, Aughris, Templeboy, Co Sligo, peacefully surrounded by her family on August 6 at her residence. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend Tommy, and her parents Sonny and Be Finnegan, as well as her daughter-in-law Regina Scott.

Patsy will be dearly missed by her daughter Denise, sons Adrian, Declan and Tomas, son-in-law Sean Weir, daughters-in-law Rita and Mary, her 10 adored grandchildren, relatives, many close friends and good neighbours.

Patsy reposed at her residence in Aughris, Templeboy on Thursday, August 8, from 3 to 5pm and from 6 to 8pm. Removal took place from her residence on Friday, August 9, for her funeral Mass at 2pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Templeboy, followed by burial in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Templeboy. May she rest in peace.

U18’s win Shield Final

The Enniscrone Kilglass GAA U18 team played a super game in the Shane Quigley Financial Advisor New Ireland U18B1 football championship shield final on Saturday evening, August 3, against Tubbercurry/Cloonacool. Supporters from both sides got value for their money as the game was exciting throughout and it was only towards the end that the lads started to pull away. The full-time score was 2-15 to 2-10. The goalscorers were Niall Duffy and Eoin Finnerty.

Congratulations to all the team on their win and the club extended thanks to their management team of Brendan Murray, Shane Hargadon and Alan Duffy for all their efforts with the team during the year. 

U13 teams in action

The Enniscrone Kilglass U13C team suffered a defeat at home in their fourth round clash against St John’s recently. The full time score was 4-10 to 6-12. They met Eastern Harps in the latest round last night, Monday, August 12.

The U13B team continued with good form with a fine win over St Farnan’s in their third round match to win on a scoreline of 4-20 to 4-11. They then headed to Geevagh on Friday last, August 9, when they played Geevagh/St Michael’s.

Easkey Enhancement Association AGM

Easkey Enhancement Association extend thanks to all who attended their first annual general meeting, and on the wet and windy night which was more suited to the depths of winter, the committee were delighted to see such a large turnout.

The new updated Summer pool session timetable at Waterpoint is as follows: Monday to Friday 9-10am adults only (lanes), 10.30-12 noon, 12.30-2pm, 2.30-4pm, 4.30-6pm (Monday to Thursday) and 6.30-7.45pm (Monday to Thursday). On Friday from 4.30-6.30pm Inflatable. The timetable for Saturday and Sunday is 11am- 12.30pm, 1-2.30pm, 3-4.30pm. The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, August 4, were 2, 12, and 20. There was no winner of the €6500 jackpot. €25 prizewinners were Sean Hale, Declan Gordan, Paul Hannon and Ben and Rian Byron. The jackpot for the latest draw which was held in the Pilot Bar on August 11, was €6600.

The numbers drawn in the Eoghan Rua Ladies weekly lotto which was held on Monday, August 5, were 15, 26 and 27. Culleens Carnival Country Night

Kilglass Community Council is delighted to announce their annual “Culleens Carnival Country Night”, which is to take place on Saturday, August 24, in the Hilltop. Live music this year with the amazing band ‘Family Affair’, a band known for bringing the house down with their lively performances. Admission is €10 and all proceeds go towards the new Digital Hub and Community Centre. They will be holding a raffle with some fantastic spot prizes so bring your friends, family, and dancing shoes for a community night to remember.

The numbers drawn in the Castleconnor GAA lotto which was held on August 3, was 3, 18, 25 and 39. There was no winner of the jackpot but Fr Kelly and Dave Ryan both matched 3 numbers and won €50 each. Pat Boland won €50 in the lucky dip draw. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on August 10, was €22,800.

U13 boys qualify for Connacht

Well done to Castleconnor GAA Club U13’s who took part in the skills competition, which was held in Scarden recently. They finished up in second place and qualified for Connacht.
