They are asking people to submit a photograph of some scenery or activities in the Erris and Achill areas that epitomises ‘Health’ in the broadest sense---It could be the setting sun, the turquoise water, children playing on the beach, a family working together in the bog, landscape beauty, people chatting, animals grazing etc. For an entry form email: HealthandWellbeing.CHO2@hse.ie or call Mary 094 9042233.
North West STOP has been providing free counselling here in the Erris area since October 2022. On next Monday, August 12, they will be hosting an official launch of this important service, followed by a fundraising walk. They will walk with the sunset to raise much needed funds and to highlight this service and the need for more easily available mental health supports in the community.
In the past six months of 2024, the Erris Branch of NW STOP has provided over 200 sessions of counselling to people in the area. They invite you all to walk with them on the evening of August 12, remembering those we have lost, those who are suffering and to give strength and hope to all who need it. Fundraisers like this ensure support can be offered locally, and that people can access a mental health service without distance or cost being a barrier.
Walk leaves from Broadhaven Bay Hotel at 8.30pm and returning to hotel after for refreshments. You can register at the link https://register.enthuse.com/.../ErrisSunsetWalkforNorthW. Registration is €20 and includes a t-shirt for the walk that can be collected on the evening with U16’s going free, they will not receive a T-shirt but will get a Sunset4Stop sticker.
