Rang a 4 Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maol, Ballina, at the official launch of their Swift Nest Box Project on Mayo 8 with Deirdre Cunningham, Heritage Officer with Mayo County Council and Lynda Huxley of Swift Conservation Ireland who both facilitated the project. Also present are the School Principal, Frances Breen, class teacher Arlene Bhreathnach and Parent's Committee representative Angela Keegan
Ardagh GAA annual membership is now open to all club followers. Supporters can now purchase their membership online at www.foireann.ie. Club officials urge supporters to subscribe if at all possible as it is a continuous financial streamline in assisting with costs incurred in running the club and its many underage and senior teams. Money raised will also go towards the cost involved on new development projects currently in the pipeline which will augment the magnificent enhancement work that has already been carried out to date at the club grounds. Any club official will gladly deal with membership queries.
Congratulations to the girls and boys of Ardagh and Knockanillo parish national schools who received the Sacrament of Confirmation at a special Mass celebrated by Bishop of Killala, Most Rev Dr John Fleming, in Ardagh church last Sunday. Full details in next week's column.
Congratulations to Ardagh NS, who won the Cumann na mBunscol football area final last week and best wishes to the team and management on their onward progression in the county final stages of the competition.
Well done to Ardagh senior footballers who carved out a well-deserved one point victory over a gallant Achill side at home in the county senior league last week. The final score was Ardagh 1-16, Achill 1-15.

Cllr Seamus Weir takes a bow as his fellow councillors, members of the Executive and staff of Mayo Co Council and Knockmore Centre give him a standing ovation at his final municipal district meeting held in his native Knockmore. In March following his 25 year career in local politics he announced that he would not be standing in the forthcoming local election.
Seamus twice served as An Cathaoirleach of Mayo Co Council and is the current Cathaoirleach of Ballina Municipal District. Many of his fellow councillors paid glowing tributes to Cllr Seamus and spoke of his dedicated service to the council together with his approachable manner always.
The parish community of Knockmore join in thanking him for his loyal support down the years and wish him and his wife Mary and family many happy days together.
A special Mass for all students sitting their exams will be celebrated in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, on Sunday, June 2, at 11am. Refreshments will be served in the centre afterwards. Any students willing to do readings, prayers or take part in the choir contact Marie on 086 8420674.
Lisaniska NS Children's Mass will be held on Saturday evening, May 25, at 8pm in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, in remembrance of all past pupils and staff of Lisaniska NS. Their children’s choir will be taking part.

The Mayo Mental Health Association information centre in Bohernasup, Ballina, is open in the community. They provide options, support and guidance for individuals and their families experiencing mental health difficulties. Killala Community Text Alert Scheme is up and running. The procedure is if you notice any suspicious activity you ring the Gardai on 096 20550 and they will decide if it warrants a text being sent to the scheme. If you are not already signed up it is not too late, call to the community centre and fill up a form.
Killala Community Council (Newstart) Ltd are running a Meals on Wheels service for Killala and surrounding areas. We aim to provide nourishing quality meals at an affordable price to any senior citizen who signs up. The meals will have two courses and can be collected €7 or delivered €8. Orders can be taken up to 11.30am each day. This service is available to anyone over 60 years or recovering from illness. If interested contact 096 32992/32484.
