There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night, March 2, in Sticks Bar. The numbers drawn were 3, 4, 8 and 23. Two punters matched three numbers; PJ Granaghan, Keenagh, Ballina; Eileen Rowland, Castlehill, Ballina, and they each win €75. The latest jackpot in the draw which was held on Saturday, March 9, was €10,350.
Congratulations to all the children who received their Sacrament of Confirmation on March 2 in Crossmolina. They thank Bishop John Fleming for celebrating his final Confirmation with them before his upcoming retirement.
Faith Fest continues this week. St Padre Pio Triduum on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the rosary at 7.30pm and Mass at 8pm. Morning reflection on Tuesday and Thursday at 11am in the Town Hall. The Folk Faith concert takes place on Thursday night at 8pm in St Tiernan's Church.
Faith Fest highlights will include Children’s Mass celebrating with national school children from Crossmolina, Keenagh and Kilmurry; celebrating with the senior citizens on Friday, March 15, with Mass followed by refreshments in the Town Hall; candlelight walk to Lough Conn on Friday, March 15; a Taste of Yoga with Barry Loftus, on Saturday, March 16, at 12 noon; and on March 17, St Patrick’s Day celebrations, including the Festival of Lights at 7.30pm.

News of the passing of Gerry O’Hora, Nephin View Manor, Foxford, and late of Ballinahaglish, Knockmore, was met with a great sense of sadness and loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gerry was a much loved father to his son Jason and daughter Louise and a beloved grandad to his five grandchildren and brother of Paddy, Tommy, Michael, Sean, Cathal, Kieran, Marian, Peggy, Nuala and Joan.
His remains reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home on the Monday evening with his 11.30am Requiem Mass celebrated in St Muredachs Cathedral, Ballina, on Wednesday morning. Large numbers gathered to pay their final respects to a popular member of the O’Hora family, as a former staff member of Ballina Post Office where he served for over 30 years and as a popular Knockmore man. Members of Knockmore GAA and Conn Rangers clubs formed a Guard of Honour at his removal to pay their final respects to a former dedicated member of Knockmore GAA club where he was involved for many years.
Gerry was laid to rest afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery. He was pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Josephine, his beloved wife Margaret, sons Gary and Jaralath, and baby son Thomas. Deepest sympathy is extended to his family at this time, may he now rest in peace.
The death has taken place following a short illness of Theresa McTigue (nee McHale), Gort, Ross and formerly Gurteenamuck, Knockmore. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Michael’s Church, Crumlin, on Friday morning last where large numbers of family, relatives and friends gathered to pay their final respects to a much loved member of their community. Theresa was laid to rest afterwards in Turlough Cemetery.
Theresa was pre-deceased by her husband Pat, parents Julia and Jim, her sisters Mary and Nora, and is survived by her beloved family, her sons Eddie, Patrick, Martin, Michael and daughter Mary, her beloved grandchildren, relatives and many friends. May she now rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Julia Hegarty, Cloghans, sister of the late John Joe and Mary Hegarty; to the family daughter Patricia and son Philippe of the late Kathleen Velliard (nee Lynch), Mount Falcon, Knockmore, and formerly of the Swiss Barn Restaurant, Mount Falcon and Killarney. May they rest in peace.
Next Saturday evening, March 16 and Bank Holiday Monday, March 18, the Knockmore/Foxford Boxing Club (KFC) will stage a weekend of boxing in the Knockmore Community Hall. On Saturday evening the annual Vincie James Tournament will commence at 8pm with underage boxers showing their skills at 7pm prior to the main event. On Monday morning at 11am underage boxers from all clubs throughout Mayo are invited to participate in a huge exhibition tournament in the same venue. A similar event was staged in Claremorris recently and it was very successful.

2024 annual membership for Ardagh GAA is now open to all club followers. Supporters can now purchase their membership online at www.foireann.ie. Club officials urge supporters to subscribe if at all possible as it is a continuous financial streamline in assisting with costs incurred in running the club and its many underage and senior teams.
Congratulations to Ardagh's Jack O'Malley who was a member of the MIC Limerick team who defeated SETU Carlow in the College Freshers division 2 football final last week. Mayo had a total of seven players representing different clubs on the MIC Limerick team. Well done to all involved.
The Helena Winters (nee Langan) annual daffodil day coffee morning in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will take place next Saturday, March 16, in the Ballina Pastoral Centre, commencing at 10.30am. Raffle and spot prizes donated by local businesses. All support will be greatly appreciated for this very worthy cause.

The Irish Cancer Society is calling on the public to donate this weekend to show solidarity and support for anyone affected by cancer. Collections will take place in towns and shopping centres across the country from Friday, March 24 – Sunday 26. People can also donate at cancer.ie.
