Tangled Up in Blue (or TUIB for short) was founded at Yale University nearly forty years ago, and the group’s visit to Ireland this spring will be their first ever overseas tour. TUIB is comprised of 16 current Yale students, singing four-part harmonies with accompaniment on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. Their repertoire ranges from bluegrass to the folk-rock hits of Bob Dylan to the jams of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and Simon and Garfunkel.
The concert will take place on Wednesday, March 13, and the doors will be open at 6.30, with the performance commencing at 7pm.
It will be a magical night of folk and bluegrass music. Tickets are still available for this fantastic concert.
There was no winner of the jackpot in the latest Ballintubber GAA Lotto draw on Sunday, February 25. 4, 7, 24 and 29 were the numbers drawn and the winners of the consolation prizes of €20 special €52k draw tickets on the night were Maria Burke, Christina Finnegan, Seamus Burke, Ian Leonard, Martin Coyne and Ciaran Prendergast.

Ballintubber GAA Club is offering a lucky winner the chance to earn €1,000 a week for a year in their recent ‘Win €52K’ fundraiser. The attractive fundraiser will see one lucky winner claim a cash prize of €52,000 paid out at €1,000 per week into their account. Tickets are reasonably priced at €20 each or three for €50 and can be purchased through the club fundraiser website www.win€52k.ie or from any of the club’s executive. The winner will be drawn in the club’s Clogher clubhouse on Sunday, June 2, and will be broadcast live on the club.
Following a break of two months, the Ballyglass Market will be back in action on Sunday, March 10, and not Saturday, as was previously advertised.

Ballyglass will hold an official Darkness into Light 5km walk this year in aid of Pieta House at 4.15am on the morning of Saturday, May 11. A meeting will be held in the Carnacon Parish Centre on Wednesday, March 6, at 8pm. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the formation of a new Community Development Association Committee. This meeting will be facilitated by Mr. Seanan Turnbull a specialist in Community Organisation Development.
Rehearsals are continuing in the Michael Basquille Hall, Music West, Castlebar for an upcoming recording on March 10, by Ballintubber Abbey Choir.
Ballintubber Abbey Choir is under the direction of Fr Joe McGuinness for this project and they are grateful for his generous time, expertise and patience. They are also delighted to have the multitalented John Flatley accompanying them for one of the tracks.
Special thanks are extended to John Caulfield for allowing the choir to use Music West as a recording venue. The building is a purpose built, acoustically correct facility operated by a local, voluntary community organisation.

The death took place last week of Padraic Heneghan, Annagh View, Treen, Tourmakeady, Co. Mayo. Padraic passed away peacefully at Mayo University Hospital surrounded by his family on February 26. Pre-deceased by his wife Breege, parents Nellie and Dan Heneghan, sister Maura Riordan, and sister-in-law Mary D Heneghan, he is deeply regretted by his loving family, daughters Marian (Treen) and Carmel Staunton (Chicago), son Vincent (Treen), son-in-law Gerry, daughter-in-law Tina, grandchildren Ciara, Maura, Delia, Niamh (Chicago), Sarah, Emily and Daniel (Treen), brothers Tom and Paul, sisters Kathleen Miley, Evelyn Johnson and Sarah Power, brothers-in- law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends to whom sincere condolences are tendered.

Work colleagues and scheme supervisor Mary Teresa Nee came together last week at Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh to wish a Happy Retirement to Tommy Maree. Thanks has been extended to Tommy for his dedication and commitment and for all the valuable work he has done in the community keeping the grass cut in the public areas, keeping the village litter free and for his help setting up and preparing for events in the Halla and especially for his care of the flowers in the village during the summer and making sure they were watered frequently. He is wished many happy years of health and enjoyment on his retirement and best wishes for the future.

The Children from Partry NS and Tourmakeady NS held their Confirmation retreat at Ballintubber Retreat Centre last week.
Eucharistic Adoration and private prayer will take place in Tourmakeady Church at 6.30pm during lent. This will be followed by the Stations of the Cross at 7pm followed by Mass at 7.20pm. Eucharistic adoration takes place in Partry Church on Mondays from 6pm to 8pm.
On Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, Killawalla Community Council have organised a litter pick up in all areas. Bags and pickers will be available to everyone who comes out to help keep this picturesque area looking its best.
On Easter Sunday, March 31, an Easter Egg hunt will take on the grounds of the community centre. All are welcome to come along and enjoy. Saturday, May 11, the Darkness into Light walk will take place in support of Pieta House.

Congrats to Ciaran Hennelly, Tooreen, who was a recent winners of the Partry FC weekly Wednesday bonus number draw with number 45. Congratulations to former Partry Athletic players Noah Donnelly and Séamus Burke who played in the first game for Mayo FC, the newly created League of Ireland team. They both played their part in the recent win over Limerick FC.
It is a great achievement for the two players and for Partry Athletic. That's three players in the last two years from Partry Athletic to move on to play National League, the two boys with Mayo FC and Róise Burke with Sligo Rovers.

Ballyheane and surrounding communities First Responders Group is looking for volunteers to join their group. With defibrillators available in most if not all communities, it is important that as many people as possible are trained to save lives when an emergency arises. Volunteers from all areas are welcome in particular volunteers from Errew and Killawalla are needed most. All training and equipment is provided.
Ballyheane Ladies Group will start a ‘Walk and Talk’ group on Thursday, March 7, meeting at the community centre at 7pm.
Jiving lessons will commence in Ballyheane Community Centre on April 4, in the lead up to the very popular Ballyheane Goes Country Music festival which takes place in early June. Breda’s remains reposed at Balla Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7pm followed by removal to her home. Her remains were taken to St Cronin’s Church, Balla, on last Wednesday at 11.30 for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral ceremonies took place afterwards in Balla cemetery. May she rest eternally in the peace and happiness of heaven.
