First Holy Communion will be held in Crossmolina on May 11 and in Keenagh on May 12. The Community Festival takes place from July 17-21 and the Agricultural Show is on July 27. The Fatima Pilgrimage takes place from September 18 to 25.
Change of Mass time in Holy Souls, Keenagh on Sunday, May 12, is now at 12 noon to accommodate First Holy Communion. There will be no 10.15am Mass.
On Sunday, May 12, Mick Travers will provide the music from 7 to 9pm. Admission is €10 with door prize. Come along and support a great night’s entertainment.

There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night, April 27, and the numbers drawn were 4, 8, 13 and 30. Moygownagh Ramblers visited the IMC Cinema, Ballina on Saturday night last to support local actor Liam Alex Heffron, in his character role of Finbarr (which is a mirror image of his life’s work as a historian) in the film Prospect House. Local Georgian Manor, Enniscoe House, situated in the townland of Prospect, was the film’s primary shooting location. This satirical film won best new Irish feature film at Cork’s International Film Festival 2023. Well done to the local cast and crew members from Moygownagh, Crossmolina and Lahardane on a stellar performance. Thanks to Stephanie and Billy for car-pool.
Moygownagh Ramblers May dates are May 16 and 30 in Moygownagh Learning Forum commencing at 7pm.
A clothing collection fundraiser in aid of Carn National School will take place on Monday, May 27. Bags can be dropped off at the school on Thursday 24 and Friday 25. All donations will be appreciated.
Knit Night will take place in Moygownagh Learning Forum on Thursday, May 9 and 23, commencing at 7.30pm.
Due to dog fouling on church grounds and recent fouling and digging on graves, people are asked not to bring or allow dogs onto the church grounds. If anybody is visiting the cemetery, make sure that the gate remains closed at all times.

Congratulations to the following pupils of Ardagh and Knockanillo national schools who received their First Holy Communion at a special Mass in Ardagh church last weekend: Chloe Doherty, Sophie Doherty, Ruby Hurst, Annie Kelly, Ruth McHale, Aidan Moran, Amy Naughton, Daire Walsh, Paddy Norman-Hopkins, Muireann Gill and Daniel McAndrew. Special gratitude is expressed to Fr Pat Munnelly PP, parents and teachers for preparing the children so well for the Sacrament and all involved in preparing the altar and cleaning the church for the ceremony.
There was no outright winner of Ardagh GAA Club's monthly lotto draw held last week. Numbers drawn were 11, 2, 25, 1. Lucky €50 winners Mark McAndrew, James McAndrew (online winner) and congratulations to all winners. The lotto is a vital means of raising necessary finance for the club and officials express their sincere gratitude to everyone who continues to support the fundraiser. Jackpot now stands at €3,800 and the next draw will be held on Sunday May 19.

Congratulations also to the pupils from Currabaggan and Lisaniska N.S who were confirmed by Bishop John Fleming in a beautiful ceremony in Christ the King Church Knockmore on Saturday last, April 27. The morning sunshine greeted Bishop John as he arrived for his final Confirmation Ceremony where he received a great welcome from priests and parishioners. In welcoming Bishop John Fleming, Fr Michael Reilly thanked him for being with them for his final Confirmation Ceremony in the parish and wished him many blessings in his retirement.
There to support Bishop John also was Monsignor Sean Killeen and Fr Michael Flynn. Special thanks was extended by Fr Michael Reilly to all who helped out in so many ways to make the occasion so special..to the parents, and teachers for preparing the children for the Sacrament, to all who prepared and decorated the church and grounds to the parents committee who prepared the lovely eats served afterwards in the centre and to all who helped out in so many ways to make the day so special for Bishop John and the children.

The death took place on April 28, in Ballina District Hospital of Michael John Flynn, Tavanaghmore, Pontoon, following an illness. His remains reposed in Clarkes Funeral Home, Foxford, on Tuesday evening, with his removal to Christ the King Church, Knockmore, on Wednesday morning for his 12 noon Requiem Mass. There, family, cousins, neighbours and friends gathered to bid farewell to a much loved member of their community. He was laid to rest afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery.
Michael John was son of the late Ceilia and Michael Flynn and a member of a family of five. Michael worked in the UK for some time before taking up employment with a Gas Installation Company in Limerick. From there he was to return to his native Tavanaghmore where he ran the family farm. Many shared their own special memories of Michael John during the week and he will always be remembered as a kind and gentle brother, neighbour and friend. Pre-deceased by his sisters Nora and Ceilia, he is survived by his sisters Mary and Eileen, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May he now rest in peace.
