The late Michael Laffey

The death took place on March 19 at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar of Michael Laffey, Cordarragh, Kiltimagh.

Michael was a well known and highly respected figure in the region and news of his passing was greeted with a deep sense of sadness. He was an integral part of the community life of Kiltimagh down through the years, was always willing to help out if needed or give advice which was often sought and much appreciated. He was a real gentleman, always ready with a smile for those he met, a great friend and neighbour but more importantly a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed in the family home long into the future.

Predeceased by his parents Dr Jimmy and Áine Laffey, Michael is survived by his beloved wife Stella, sons Michael, Sean (Carlow), Aiden and Conor (Athlone), his adored grandchildren Maria, Anita, Caoimhe, Fionn, Eimear and Elena, daughters-in-law Caroline, Niamh and Refellia, Aiden’s partner Francesca, his brother Jimmy, sister Marian, sisters-in-law Collette, Margaret and Ina, brother-in-law Joe, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Michael reposed at O’Hora’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening. Removal took place from his home in Cordarragh on Monday morning to the Church of the Holy Family for his Funeral Mass, which was followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
