Kilglass Enniscrone U14 boys team kicked off their season with a 5-2 victory over Yeats Utd last week.

U14 Boys kicked off their season

The Kilglass Enniscrone U14 boys team kicked off their season with a great 5-2 victory over an under strength Yeats Utd side, who had just the bare 11 players available for the game held in Michael McGowan Park, Enniscrone, last week.

All 17 KEUFC lads put in a fantastic shift and everyone contributed to the team performance. Goals were scored by Oisin Durkin, Cian Corcoran, Sean Tuffy, Corey Hallinan and Evan Kavanagh with assists from Devin Gallagher, Oisin Durkin and Kyle Tuffy.

The club extend thanks to Paul Finnerty for refereeing the game and to Yeats Utd for the match.

Electrical Recycling Day

Start sorting out your old electrical items and get them ready for delivery to the WEEE Electrical Recycling Day on October 3, at Enniscrone Pier car park. They will take anything that operates via a plug or batteries.

President’s Prize 2026

A wonderful weekend of golf and celebration took place at Enniscrone Golf Club when Joe Quinn’s, President’s Day, was held on Sunday, September 6. The weekend began with the Social Mixed Foursomes, followed by the junior competition on Saturday and then the ladies’ competition and the President’s prize on Sunday.

Joe extended his heartfelt thanks to everyone who played, supported the competitions and helped make the entire weekend so enjoyable and memorable, especially the lady president, captains and vice captains and the junior committee, the course staff for presenting the course in such wonderful condition, along with the staff in the pro shop, catering and bar, the committees, and volunteers. He also thanked all those who attended the presentation and celebrations, and congratulated all the prize winners. ‘The spirit and support shown throughout the weekend are a big part of what makes Enniscrone Golf Club such a special place. It was a weekend that meant a great deal to me and my family, and one that I will remember for many years to come’, said Joe Quinn, President, Enniscrone Golf Club.

Pilates with Caroline

Strong performance from U13 girls

Well done to the U13 girls from Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC who put in a strong performance against a good Calry Bohs team and came away with a 2-0 victory in Michael McGowan Park last week. Aoibhinn Egan and Katie Langan were the goal scorers. The club extend thanks to Paul Finnerty referee and to Calry Bohs for a great game.

Ava on WU17 squad

Well done to AVA Hallinan on her call up to the Republic of Ireland WU17 squad for the back to back international friendlies against Belgium in Spain last week. This is a fantastic achievement for Ava representing her country once again.

Blotto

The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto held on Sunday, September 6, were 1, 20 and 23. There was no winner of the jackpot and the €25 prizewinners were Joan Quinn, Patricia Freeman, Matthew Healy and Maurice Sweeney. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, September 13, in the Ocean Sands Hotel was €5400.

Enniscrone Show broadcast on TV

It was wonderful to see the Enniscrone Show officially broadcast on television. The show committee extend their sincere thanks to Henry and his production crew from TV Ireland for interviewing the team and filming this year’s highlights. The committee are also grateful to Eddie Lavelle for his dedicated annual support in making this broadcast a reality. Finally, a well deserved thank you to the committee, stewards, volunteers and sponsors. ‘Your hard work and commitment ensured a highly successful show this year, and you should be immensely proud of what we achieved together’ said a spokesperson for the show.

Cross Country is back

The new Cross Country season kicked off on Monday, September 7, from 6-6.45pm at the Castlefield, Enniscrone. One of the great things about cross country is that you don’t have to be the fastest. Every child can challenge themselves, improve at their own pace and celebrate finishing. It is a great way for the young athletes to build fitness, make friends, have fun and enjoy running together. New members are very welcome, simply turn up. Football boots can be worn.

The West Sligo Athletics Club would also love to welcome new parents to get involved and join their team.

Indoor Market

The Enniscrone Indoor Market is a perfect place to visit on Saturdays located at F26 EW67 Main Street, next door to Checkout shop. The market is open from 11am to 3pm. Come along and have a look at all the stalls and chat with the wonderful local traders. There is always fresh vegetables and fruits there on Saturdays, as well as oil paintings, crochet, wooden bowls, handmade jewellery, healthy produces, personalised frames and cards, gift ideas and much more.

Meet up with friends or family and visit the café where a breakfast and lunch menu and some sweet treats are available.

Christmas Fair and Santa Experience

The Christmas Fair and free Santa Experience at Kilglass House F26 H685 will take place on December 6, from 10.30am to 4pm where there will be market stalls, face painting, story telling, marshmallow toasting, cake sale, refreshments and much more. Change of Mass time

The Saturday evening vigil Mass in Enniscrone Church changed from 8pm to 7pm and going forward will remain at 7pm right throughout the year. There will be a Saturday evening ‘Children’s Mass’ once a month in Enniscrone Church from September.

The O’Dubhda Challenge

The O’Dubhda Challenge returns for its 11th edition on Sunday, October 4, bringing runners to Enniscrone for one of Ireland’s most scenic race days.

Take on the 10k, half marathon or 20 miles along the Wild Atlantic Way, the perfect distances to sharpen your preparation for the Irish Life Dublin Marathon. Whether you are locking in race pace or getting that final long run done, this event fits seamlessly into your autumn build-up.

Easkey/St Farnan’s Hurling

Last week was a busy one for the Easkey St Farnans underage hurlers with two finals held in Easkey. The Davis’s Restaurant U13 Cup final saw the Easkey St Farnans lads play Coolera Strandhill GAA LGFA Campgie, while in the shield final the U17s played Western Gaels. A great evening of hurling, two spirited games, saw the lads come away with both titles. The evening was topped off with pizzas for all four hungry teams.

The club extend thanks to all the supporters, it was great to see so many out to cheer on the young lads in both games.

Mixed Gender Walking Football

The mixed gender walking football has been postponed and will commence on Friday, October 2, from 7-8pm in Dromore West Community Centre. This is a fun, low-intensity way to exercise, have a bit of fun and meet new people. There is no need to be a football expert – just come along and enjoy yourself. Everyone is welcome.

2nd annual Brendan McGrath Memorial Blitz

The 2nd annual Brendan McGrath Memorial Blitz takes place on Saturday, September 26, at Easkey GAA Grounds. The U13 teams will battle it out for cup, shield and plate. Married v Singles adult game will take place afterwards. Donations on the day will go towards The Dillon Quirke.

GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in the weekly Castleconnor GAA lotto which was held on September 5 last were 19, 24, 29 and 36. There was no jackpot winner and the match 3 winners were Sheila Browne, and Sean and Ellie Tuffy. The lucky dip winner was Padraig Tuffy. The jackpot in the latest draw held on September 12, was €11,300.

Razorbacks Basketball Club

Registration took place on Thursday, September 11, last for the Razorbacks Basketball Club at Castleconnor Community Centre. Head coach for the U14 boys (born 2013 and 2014) is Mark Carr 087 8073804; U12 boys (born 2015 and 2016) is Mary O’Meara 087 2985517 and U10 girls (born 2017 and 2018) is Mary O’Meara 087 2985517. Rachel Forde is the head coach for the U9 mixed (born 2018 and 2019) and session times and venues are to be confirmed. It is hoped that U9 boys session will follow on from the 6 week programme but will depend on volunteers coming forward.
