Lá na gClub 40th Anniversary

In 1984 Ballintubber GAA Club celebrated the centenary of the foundation of the GAA with a Lá na gClub spectacle of Gaelic football in the Ray Prendergast Memorial Park in Clogher. Nine local teams were in action on the day which included two adult ladies teams, four adult men’s teams and three underage teams. Thankfully local footballer and photographer Kevin Coyne was on hand to capture all nine teams.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of that wonderful day the club will host an evening of reminiscence and nostalgia in the new Clogher clubhouse on Sunday evening, May 26, from 6-8pm. A vast array of photographs will be on display on the evening and refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.

Carnacon LGFA

Carnacon LGFA has appointed Danny O'Toole as their new senior team manager. Danny O'Toole brings great experience to the role as he played with both Westport and Inishturk on the football field while also played rugby Westport Bulls RFC and for Connacht. He was joint manager of the Westport Bulls who won the Connacht Junior Cup in 2015 and he also played on the All-Ireland winning Mayo Masters teams of 2016 and '17 as well as Ireland in the Masters Compromise Rules series in 2016. Carnacon LGFA have slipped somewhat in recent years having been defeated in last season's county semi-final and both Knockmore and Burrishoole have won county titles in the period after Carnacon totally dominated Mayo ladies football for a score of years or more. The club who won six All-Ireland titles and 15 Connacht crowns in the glory days are wished a speedy return to the lofty standards of their proud history.
