St Patrick’s Day Parade

There are just over five weeks left until the community event of the year - the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Claremorris St Patrick’s Day committee has started visiting, contacting, and calling as many schools, clubs, and groups as possible over the coming weeks.

They won’t personally get to everyone, but they would love for everyone to be involved. If your school, club or group would like to enter a float, contribute to your community, raise your profile, have fun, and make memories the committee would love to hear from you.

Also, they are looking for individuals to help on the day so they would love to hear from you too. As always you are doing your bit for the community if you can share this post and tag anyone you feel might be interested. Contact ‘Claremorris St Patrick’s Day Parade’ on Facebook or at 087-7392543.

The Shadow of a Gunman

In the spring of 2024, Druid will tour Ireland with Seán O’Casey’s classic play, The Shadow of a Gunman, and they will perform in Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9.

Set against the backdrop of the Irish War of Independence, and by turns tragic and comic, O’Casey’s play is the tale of an ambitious young woman who dreams of a life beyond her Dublin tenement with the mysterious neighbour downstairs.

Directed by Garry Hynes, The Shadow of a Gunman features Druid Ensemble members Rory Nolan and Marty Rea, alongside Gabriel Adewusi, Clare Barrett, Caitríona Ennis, Bosco Hogan, Sean Kearns, Robbie O’Connor and Catherine Walsh.

This five-star production was first produced in 2023 as part of DruidO’Casey, Druid’s play cycle of Seán O’Casey’s Dublin Trilogy, which also includes The Plough and the Stars and Juno and the Paycock.

DruidO’Casey broke box office records when it was announced in early 2023 and sold-out weeks in advance so early booking is strongly recommended for this national tour of The Shadow of a Gunman.

Doors open at 7pm, with show commencing at 8pm.
