Local Notes: Enniscrone soccer camp was a big success
Young footballers who took part in the Sligo Rovers and Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC Summer Camp, held in Michael McGowan Park, Enniscrone recently.
Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC extend thanks to Sligo Rovers for a fantastic week-long camp at Michael McGowan Park. It was brilliant to see so many young players enjoying their football, developing new skills, building confidence and most importantly, having fun.
A special well done to all the wonderful children who attended, their enthusiasm, effort and improvement throughout the week was fantastic to see. The club thank the coaches, staff, volunteers and everyone who helped make the camp such a success.
All at Jesus and Mary Secondary School extend congratulations to the Class of 2026 on their Leaving Certificate results. They are incredible proud of all the students on receiving their excellent results. Their hard work, resilience, and determination have truly paid off.
A special thanks was extended to the parents and guardians who have been a constant source of encouragement and support, and to the wonderful staff and management at Jesus and Mary Secondary School for their dedication and guidance throughout the students' journey.
Tireragh Community Support had an amazing day in Kilglass House celebrating their rich plant history as part of Heritage Week.
Thanks to Dr Carla Sa Ferreira of Wild Willows for the fascinating foraging workshop, during which all learned about the benefits and healing properties of the everyday plants. Dr Carla also treated everyone to a selection of foraged, homemade goodies, including acorn biscuits, seaweed soda break with handmade wild garlic butter, and acorn coffee.
The organisers thank Sligo County Council Community and Voluntary Grants Scheme for funding the workshop and they also thank everyone who attended.
Well done to the U15 Enniscrone Kilglass footballers and their management team on reaching the B1 Championship Final.
The lads produced an excellent display to get the better of St John’s away from home in the semi-final, eventually winning by two points, 1-16 to 3-8.
They played Shamerock Gaels in the final yesterday evening (Monday) in Scarden.
Mayo College registration open day takes place at West Sligo Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, September 2, from 10am to 1pm.
Part-time courses on offer are cooking on a budget, beginners computers, advanced computers, beginner English classes and advanced English classes. The classes, which are certified, will be held in a friendly fun atmosphere and in a safe and inclusive environment.

The Activator Pole Walking is returning for an eight-week programme starting today, Tuesday, September 1, and continuing to October 20 from 11am to 12 midday at the West Sligo Family Resource Centre, Enniscrone.

The weekly walks for all returns this month on Wednesdays from 11.30am, meeting at the West Sligo Family Resource Centre.

The Saturday evening vigil Mass in Enniscrone Church will change from 8pm to 7pm from September 5 going forward and will remain at 7pm for the rest of the year. There will be a Saturday evening ‘Children’s Mass’ once a month in Enniscrone Church from September.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw, which was held on Sunday, August 23, were 13, 15 and 43.
There was no jackpot winner and the €25 prizewinners were Adam Cawley, Patrick Gillespie, Liam McKeon and Ray Whelan.
The jackpot in the latest draw held on Sunday, August 30, was €5,000.
An open and enrolment evening for Post Leaving Certificate courses will be held at Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, on September 10, from 6.30 to 7.30pm.
The courses on offer are Special needs assistant for primary and post primary; healthcare assistant (Healthcare Support 5M4339), pre-university nursing; business administration with computerised accounts.
Go along on the evening and meet the teachers, explore the facilities and learn more about the exciting PLC course options.
The Enniscrone Kilglass Mothers and Others held a very successful cake sale in McNulty’s Bar ahead of their upcoming trip to London. They thank all who supported their fundraising efforts.

The second annual Brendan McGrath Memorial Blitz takes place on Saturday, September 26, at Easkey GAA Grounds.
The U13 teams will battle it out for cup, shield and plate. Married v Singles adult game will take place afterwards.
Donations on the day will go towards the Dillon Quirke Foundation.
The numbers drawn in the Easkey and Eoghan Rua Lotto, which was held on August 23, were 2, 14, 25 and 32.

The Easkey St Farnan’s Hurling Club are holding a duck race on Sunday, September 6, at Easkey River Bridge.
This promises to be a fun event for all the family. Lines are on sale in local shops in Easkey and Dromore West and from hurlers.
The time of the duck race is to be announced, but it won’t be the quack of dawn!
Easkey Meals on Wheels are looking for volunteer weekend drivers for the Enniscrone area.
Volunteers would need to be available between 11.45am and 1.30pm on a Saturday or Sunday once a month. They need a full, clean driving licence, and must be willing to complete a Garda vetting form.

Bingo is back in Dromore West on Friday nights at 8.30pm in the community centre. There will be a jackpot of €700 with extra prizes in their raffle and a 50/50 draw.

Everyone involved in Castleconnor Community Games are very proud of Sean Geraghty, who made it through to the semi-finals of the National U10 Hurdles Community Games Finals last week. Sean should be very proud of himself for making it into the top 16 in the country.
The numbers drawn in the Castleconnor GAA weekly lotto, which was held on Saturday, August 22, were 6, 36, 37 and 39.
There was no jackpot winner and no match 3 winner. The lucky dip winner was Anniesa McGuinness.
The jackpot in the latest draw, held on August 29, was €11,100.
