The annual general meeting of Enniscrone Kilglass Community Games will be held on Wednesday, February 5, at 8pm in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone. The club are hoping to get a few new members on board, as the more people they have, the less work involved for everyone. Ideally, they would love to have one volunteer per event, which would make the task much easier.
Many of the members have been on the committee for 10 years and more, so some new blood would be very welcome. If your child have an interest in the Community Games, they would strongly urge you to get involved, otherwise there is a risk that there won’t be a Community Games going forward.

The senior men hosted Ballygawley Celtic in atrocious conditions on Sunday morning, January 26, in McGowan Park. Credit to both teams who contributed to a very close game.
The home team took the lead after 10 minutes, Ben Cawley closing down the Ballygawley defenders and when the ball broke to Daniel Gorman he made no mistake. KEUFC felt they could have had a couple of penalties in the 1st half for handballs and went close a few times.
Ballygawley brought on Derek Lynch and withing a matter of seconds he played L O’Connor through, Liam Donegan made a brilliant save but O’Connor was on hand to knock in the rebound. At half time it was 1-1.
KEUFC looked the most likely in the 2nd half, Ben Cawley in particular went very close hitting the post after a fine save from the impressive Kyle Davey. However on 69 minutes the home side got rewarded for their attacking play with a super goal- Man of the Match Daniel Gorman with a beautiful flick to send Oisin Finnerty in on goal and from a tight angle Oisin buried his shot to the corner. Ten minutes later the game was put to bed when Oisin was pulled down in the box. Oisin had to take the penalty twice but scored both times.
The final score was 3-1 to KEUFC, 10 wins in a row and the lads are 6 points clear at the top of the table.

Easkey Enhancement Association (EEA) plan to develop the field opposting Colaiste Iascaigh into a community playground and an all-weather pitch facility. They are delighted that the first step has been taken, and a 20 year lease has been signed with The Education Training Board and planning permission for the development is being sought from Sligo County Council. The EFA plan to apply for various grants to fund this development, but these will not cover the total cost of the project, and the community will have to fundraise the difference. To start this off and with the support of Francis Lyons who obtained the fantastic pirzes, Easkey Enhancement Association together with Colaiste Iascaigh are holding a monster raffle on February 23. With only three weeks to sell these tickets, it would make such a difference if every family in the parish could sell some tickets to neighbours, family and work colleagues. Together the goal of this badly needed facility can be achieved that would benefit everyone in the community.
Contact Easkey Enhancement Association at easkeyenhance@gmail.com or call 086 8178862 if you can help with the sale of tickets.
