Enniscrone Kilglass Gaelic4Mothers&Others and their families were out in force on Sunday morning, July 20 last for the beach clean up in association with Enniscrone Tidy Towns. There was so much rubbish and people are asked to take home all their rubbish to keep the beach clean. The group thanked OffShore Enniscrone for the treats afterwards.
Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC have installed two new bottles and can return bins at the grounds, kindly provided by the DRS scheme. With the new season coming and with FAI and Sligo Rovers camps not far away, the club are asking all patrons to use these yellow bins for recyclable items such as plastic bottles and tin cans, as it will help the environment and help the club.
Western Gaels Hurling and Camogie club training continues at Culleens on the lower pitch, however works have commenced on the main pitch.
Following securing of land and planning permission, works on phase 1 has commenced. This included but not limited to the following; topsoil stripping to be completed by the end of July; lowering and levelling the ground to commence the first week of August and this is called cut and fill; the ground will be left to settle for a period before commencing phase 2.
Phase 2 is to commence in August dependant on weather and will consist of the following; drainage – preparation and completion of civils works to the main pitch as per specification, this will include seeding. Works to recommence in the new year for full completion which will include access roads, carparks, etc.
This would not be possible only for the support from the Gold, Silver and Bronze packages which are still available to purchase and leave your mark on this development. This will be the first hurling and camogie pitch in Sligo. If you wish to avail of a package, reach out to a committee member, through social media or through players and coaches. Your support will be much appreciated.

Congratulations have been extended to Martin McHale, a past pupil of Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, of the 63rd Naval Cadet class who was commissioned as an officer of the Irish Defense Forces, at a ceremony held in the Haulbowline, Co Cork. The proud occasion marked the culmination of 22 months of intense training. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Minister of State, Mr Jerry Buttimer, TD.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, July 20, were 4, 7, and 20. €25 prizewinners were Angela Forde, Padraic Laing, Caroline Kiernan and Martin Reape. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, July 27, in Gilroy’s Bar, was €5,800.
The family of Vincent Patrick Gibson, Easkey, Dublin and Enniscrone, are heartbroken to share the news of his passing. He was a kind and gentle soul who spent many cherished days in Enniscrone with his beloved family. Though Dublin was home, Enniscrone held a special place in his heart, a retreat full of memories, sea air and time with loved ones. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, especially for his warmth, intelligence, quiet humour, and deep love for family.
Vincent died peacefully at Tallaght University Hospital will be sadly missed by his loving wife Barbara, his beloved sons Alex, Victor and Vincent, daughters-in-law Mary, Marina and partner Aisling, his eight grandchildren Sasha, Ciaran, Luke, Liza, Darragh, Conn, Niamh and Peter, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. He reposed at Flanagans Funeral Home, Willbrook Road, Rathfarnham on Monday, July 21 with removal on Tuesday morning to the Church of St Pius X, Templeogue for 10am Funeral Mass which was followed by burial in Mount Venus Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Enniscrone Kilglass GAA Club were delighted to have Michael Gerard Doherty of MGD coaching, join them all the way from Belfast on Saturday, July 19 last to deliver a top class coaching workshop to a number of the club coaches and members. All those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the morning and fully embraced the opportunity to learn new skills and fresh coaching ideas.

A celebration of the built and natural heritage of Kilglass House, Walled Garden and Woodland will take place on Saturday, August 23, from 1-3pm with two workshops. One is on built heritage/history of Kilglass House and the other on biodiversity in walled garden and woodland. Bring a picnic and refreshments to enjoy in the beautiful walled garden and woodland. They will have fresh fruit and vegetables available on the day to be picked.
The final three dates of the girls golf programme will be held on Wednesday, August 13, Thursday, August 14 and Saturday, August 16, from 9.30 to 10.30am. The cost is €20 per session or €55 for 3 sessions. Each girls will receive an official Girls Golf membership kit.
Sarah Helly, LPGA Class A teaching professional has a wealth of knowledge after playing professional golf in America and it is the very first time a programme like this has come to Ireland for all girls aged 7-16 years old who would like to get involved with golf. The Swim Ireland open water swimming programme for Enniscrone Pier continues for children from July 28-August 1. Junior 1 is no experience required and is held from 9.30am to 10.15am; Junior 2 persons should be comfortable swimming in a swimming pool, from 10.15 to 11am; Junior 3 confident swimmer and can tread water and can swim 100m in a pool from 11 to 11.45am; and Junior 4 is experienced swimmers who can swim 200m in a pool from 11.45am to 12.30pm.
The Alzheimers Inclusive Social Club will meet in Skreen/Dromard Community Centre on Wednesday, July 30, from 2.30 to 4.30pm and it is free and open to those looking for a calm, supportive environment for a relaxed tea and chat. The annual Cemetery Mass will be held on Friday, August 1, in Roslea Cemetery at 7pm; Sunday, August 3 at 12.30pm in Churchill Cemetery, Dromore West, and Sunday, August 3, at 6pm in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Enniscrone. There will be a collection taken up at the gate at St Patrick’s Cemetery towards its upkeep and for improvements to the new cemetery section.
Market Day is held every Saturday in the Old Church, Enniscrone from 11am to 3pm, with a huge selection of goods on offer. There will be tea, coffee and freshly baked goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, hand crafted items, jewellery and lots more on offer.

There are a few places left for the Miggy Moos summer camp which will be held in Castleconnor Community Centre and the ice-cream van will be making a visit on the last week for a treat. The camps are running from July 28 to August 1, August 5 to August 8, and August 18 to August 22. The time are 8am to 6pm full day, 10am to 6pm full day, and 8.30am to 1.30pm half day. NCS accepted. Congratulations to Castleconnor senior team on a great game last week to capture the Division 3 league title. It was a brilliant performance from all the lads to win on a scoreline of 1-19 to 2-5. Well done to all the team and management and the club extend thanks to all the supporters who came out to show their support and to the youngest supporter Sadie Kilcullen who was there to cheer on her proud dad Ciaran.
Miggy Moo’s Before and Afterschool Club at Castleconnor Community Centre is back again this September. There will be collections from both Corballa and Stokane National Schools and NCS is accepted.
