Pre-season Glasshouse Cup competition

The Kilglass Enniscrone Utd FC senior team made their first appearance of the season in the pre-season Glasshouse Cup knock-out competition. Coolaney were the visitors on what was a beautiful evening at Michael McGowan Park. The first half was a eagerly contested game and with numerous yellow cards being dished out as things threatened to spill over once or twice.

Coolaney took a lead against the run of play when Stenson broke the offside trap to finish well after 19 minutes. A rocket from Stephen Conway after 33 minutes brought the teams level and 2 minutes later Matt Geraghty blasted to the net to put KEUFC up 2-1 at half time.

The 2nd half was exciting and Coolaney drew level when Stenson again broke the off side trap and lobbed keeper Oisin Finnerty. Kian Boland and Rober Jacob went close to win the game, while KEUFC played the last 20 minutes with a man down.

The game finished 2-2 at the end of normal time but it was Coolaney who ran out 6-5 winners in a penalty shoot out. It was a good first outing for both teams who will meet again in 2 weeks in the league.
