Local notes: Crossmolina U21's win County B title

Congratulations to Crossmolina Deel-Rovers U21 team and management on winning the county title in a thrilling contest against a gallant Mayo Gaels side. This was the second title in the B section the club has won, the previous one was in 2003.
The following are the results of the weekly session on Thursday night. Best of 20 game’s 1st Bernie Gilger and John Gilger, 2nd a tie Leo Ryan and Tom O’Malley, Darragh Sheridan and Anthony Granahan, 3rd John Reape and Frank Leonard. Raffle winners were Frank Leonard, 2nd Tom Hanahoe, and 3rd Jimmy Caden. The committee thank all its supporters during the season and wish each and everybody a very happy peaceful Christmas and all the best good health for 2024.
There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday night, December 16. The numbers drawn were 1, 11, 30 and 33. No punters matched three numbers and three tickets were drawn; Jimmy Reynolds, Church St., Crossmolina; Brian Munnelly, The Boreen, Crossmolina; Anthony McHale, Ballina St., Crossmolina, and they each won €50. The draw took place in Sticks Bar. This week’s jackpot is €8,700. Many thanks for your continued support. The committee wish all the people who support the lotto each week a very happy and peaceful Christmas and wish them all the best of good health in 2024.
The Folk and Craic Christmas night out will be held in Cooney’s Bar, on Wednesday, December 27, and all are welcome.

The final night for the Ramblers for 2023 took place on Thursday night by welcoming two new members into the group. The Christmas wreaths were completed, sincere thank you to Stephanie Jennings for sharing her time and expertise in guiding the group through and sourcing the wreath making materials. Ballycastle GAA are having a dinner dance celebration in Ballycastle Community Hall on Friday, December 29, commemorating the North Mayo winning team of 1993.
Music will be supplied by No Limits. Doors open at 7pm with dinner at 8pm. There will be a bar in the hall on the night. Tickets which cost €25 will be available from the usual places in town from Monday, or to reserve a ticket contact Eilis on 087 7936942.
Ballycastle Kiddies Korner have a vacancy for a classroom assistant for the afternoon session (12.30 – 4.30pm) from January 8 until June 2024, which is 20 hours per week. Minimum Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education required.
KTC training have agreed to run one day ATV certification courses in Belderrig Community Centre from February 12 to 16. Places on these courses are very limited and are on a first come first served basis. The cost of these courses is €300 payable when you register.
Register at KTC contact number 057 8646619, ask for Belderrig ATV course. Register your date and payment using debit or credit card.The course is one day long from 9am to 4pm. First half class room setting, second half outside quad proficiency.
You will need a quad helmet, passport sized photograph 1 (advisable to bring 2) and a €20 charge from everyone taking the course. This is to pay for accommodation and expenses of trainers while in the area.
Everyone is more comfortable using their own quad but if your quad is not in the best of shape then they are hoping to have quads available throughout the week for use. If you need any more information contact Martin Hefferon, Martin McCain or Tony Healy. Once again places on these courses are very limited due to statutory requirements the trainers have to observe.

Killala Community Council (Newstart) Ltd are running a meals on wheels service for Killala and surrounding areas. They aim to provide nourishing quality meals at an affordable price to any senior citizen who signs up. The meals will have two courses and can be collected (€5) or delivered (€6). Orders can be taken up to 11.30am each day. This service is available to anyone over 60 years or recovering from illness. If interested contact 096 32992/32484.
