Congratulations to the pupils from Killeenduff NS, Owenbeg NS and Rathlee NS who made their Confirmation in Rathlee Church, last week. They are pictured with Archbishop Francis Duffy and Fr Hogan.
The death has taken place of Nora Connaughton nee Sweeney, Carrowmacbrien, Rathlee, Easkey on March 3, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Ignatious.
Nora was the beloved mother of Linda, Eileen, Jimmy, Gerry (Ignatious), Tommy, Margaret and Vincent. She will be sadly missed by her sons, daughters, sisters Linda Earlis and Mary Finan, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Nora reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Tuesday evening, March 4, from 5.30pm with removal at 7pm to Star of the Sea Church, Rathlee. Her requiem Mass was held on Wednesday morning, March 5, at 11am followed by burial in Roslea Cemetery, Easkey. May Nora rest in peace.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, March 2 were 6, 12 and 24. €25 winners were Una Walsh, Ollie Carroll, Elaine O’Boyle and Paddy Cafferty. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, March 9, in Gilroy’s Bar, was €3800.

A 5 week ‘Cycling for Kids’ programme will commence on March 11, at West Sligo Family Resource Centre, Enniscrone, for 6-8 year olds from 3.15 to 4.15pm and 9-12 year olds from 4.20 to 5.20pm. The death took place of Joseph Scott, Killeenduff, Easkey, following a tragic accident. He is predeceased by his father Frank and mother Frances. Joseph is deeply regretted by his brothers John and Patrick, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Joseph reposed at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Dromore West on Thursday evening, March 6, from 5 to 7pm with removal to Easkey Church. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 7, with burial afterwards in Roslea Cemetery, Easkey. May he rest in peace.
The Parents Association of Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone are holding a quiz night on Friday, March 28 at 8pm in the Diamond Coast Hotel. Teams of four is €40 and is suitable for Over 18’s only. There will be a raffle on the night.

The club extended a warm welcome to John Kelly, who will act as the Coaching Development Officer (CDO) in the area between Enniscrone Kilglass and Easkey over the coming months. John’s role includes coaching in the local schools and working with the club teams.
West Sligo Athletics Club welcomed runners at the Family Resource Centre, Enniscrone, on Monday night last and for those who can’t make a Monday night, you can join them any Thursday evening as the programme is held every Monday and Thursday evening at 7pm.
Life is busy, but this is a great opportunity to get out and move. Ciaran Maguire is leading the programme along with other coaches helping out with this training programme. Everyone is welcome to come along and set your goals and get fitter.
Join the ladies from Eoghan Rua Ladies Football Club to celebrate their successes of 2024 with a dinner and dancing at the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone on Bank Holiday, Sunday, March 18. It is going to be a big one with so much to celebrate: Senior champions in 2024 for the 1st time ever; Minor A champions in 2024 for the 1st time ever; and many underage titles. The club is also honouring the Junior Ladies team of 2010 – the first adult team to win a title. Special guest on the night will be Joe Canning, Galway. Live band is Gorrilla Radio followed by a DJ until late. Everyone is welcome to help the club give these achievements the celebrations they deserve.

A new term of Little Puckers, which is a class for boys and girls aged between 1.5 to 5 years with a unique Gaelic Games theme commenced in Easkey Sports Hall for 1.5 to 3.5 years on Saturdays from 10 to 10.40am and for 3.5 to 5.5 years from 10.45 to 11.30am. Activities will include chase games, movement games, introduction to Gaelic games, co operation games and lots of fun. After a few months off, the Enniscrone Kilglass Gaelic4Mothers&Others returned back training on Monday evenings from 8 to 9pm indoors in the astroturf at Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA grounds. The Cumann na mBunscol Handball Connacht finals were played in Salthill, Galway, on Saturday, March 1 last and Corballa NS was well represented by Calvin Foody and Rory McHale in the U13 doubles and by Cian Corcoran in the U13 singles.
Congratulations is extended to Cian Corcoran who captured the U13 Connacht singles title after wins over Mayo and Leitrim. Cian now goes onto the All Ireland series in Croke Park in April.
Hard luck to Calvin Foody and Rory McHale who were defeated in the U13 doubles final after a thrilling game.

Castleconnor GAA membership for 2025 is now due for renewal and is available through the ‘Foireann’ central GAA system at https://www.foireann.ie. All players and coaches must be registered members before they train or play. Anyone who wishes to use the club gym must complete their registration and membership to gain access. This is important for insurance and safety purposes to protect members.
The Player Injury Scheme runs from January 1 to December 31. The club look forward to the season ahead and would love to see new and returning players and members join the club.
