Mayo Roscommon Hospice extend a massive thank you once again this year to the Coillte Cup Group in Kiltimagh sponsored by Ryan’s Bar who raised an incredible €2153.30 at their annual golf outing. Drama open auditions

Clann Machua Drama Group are holding open auditions in the Town Hall Theatre, Kiltimagh tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 31, for not one but two plays so there is sure to be something to interest everyone. The first play ‘Wake in the West’ will be for local audiences and directed by Sean Langan. The second play ‘The Snapper’ by Roddy Doyle will be directed by Rebecca Farrington and will be brought on the festival circuit next February/March. They will also be looking for three children to take part, two girls aged 12/13 approx and one boy 10/11/12 age group.

Oisin Herraghty has decided not be involved in directing this year and he was thanked for his dedication and expertise in directing the one acts over many years.

Club Development draw 2024

One of Kiltimagh GAA's main fundraisers, the Cairde Mhaigh Eo County Board Club Development Draw, is commencing shortly with the first draw scheduled for August 10 followed by Draw 2 on August 17, Draw 3 on August 24, Draw 4 on August 31, Draws 5 and 6 on September 7 and September 14.

Tickets are now on sale priced €100 or €80 for paid up members who buy directly from the club. You will have the chance to win some great prizes over the six draws such as Draws No 1 and 6: 1st prize €10,000, 2nd prize €1000, 5 prizes of €500, 30 prizes of €200; Draws No. 2, 3, 4 and 5: 1st prize €5000, 2nd prize €1000, 5 prizes of €500, 30 prizes of €200. It is important to note that 90% of all tickets sold above the club quota will go directly to the club.The club would ask all members to do their best to sell as many tickets as possible.

Over the last few years two very lucky club members each won €10,000, there were also many other prizes won by tickets sold by the club. Once again, your support is greatly appreciated and is crucial in meeting all the many expenses the club has to deal with during the year. Poker league

Michael Sheridan took first prize in Round 10 of the Summer Poker League in Teach O’Hora on Wednesday night last with Enda Ruane second, AN Other was third and Alan Sheridan fourth. The other finalists were, 5 Paul Walsh, 6 Thomas McDonagh, 7 Derry O’Sullivan, 8 John Reynolds, 9 Nicky Cunnane. AN Other remains top of the league on 166 points ahead of Pat Boyle on 145 and Michael Sheridan 144. The rest of the top twelve is Enda Ruane 128, AN Other 120, Keith Lydon 118, Gerry Groarke 116, Tiernan Burke 115, Nicky Cunnane 113, Paul Walsh 108, Martin Regan 108, Derry O’Sullivan 108. The league runs for fifteen weeks with a tournament every Wednesday night at 8pm. Entry each night is €20 with one optional re-entry allowed for ninety minutes. €5 from each entry goes towards the prize pool for the league final (to which the top twelve in the league automatically qualify) and the rest is paid out on the night. The final will have an estimated prize pool of just over €2,000. This is a members only league.

On Sunday, July 21, an Irish Poker Tour satellite was held in Teach O’Hora for tickets the big €20,000 guaranteed tournament in Claremorris on August 17. Entries for this tournament worth €200 each were won by Gerry Groarke and Michael Higgins, Alan Sheridan won third prize. The last satellite for this will be held on Sunday, August 11.

GAA fixture

Thursday, August 1, Mayo U16 championship, Kiltimagh take on Crossmolina in Gilmartin Park. Throw in is at 7pm.

Card results

Mary and Jimmy Doyle were the winners of the first prize at the 25 Drive held in the Parish Centre on Thursday night, July 18. Second were John Gallagher and Brian McNulty and third prize was shared by Chris Flatley and Manus Kilcoyne and Francis McNicholas and Tom Flatley. Last 10 prize went to Geraldine Turbitt and Ann Rowley, spot prize James Walsh and Danny Doherty and raffle winners were Jack Ryan, James Walsh and Francis McNicholas.

Mayo SFL Division 2A

In the final round of the senior league Kiltimagh needed at least a draw to guarantee they would not be in a relegation playoff when they played Knockmore in Gilmartin Park last week. Missing several of their regulars Kiltimagh fielded a very young team who rose to the occasion and the game ended in a draw on a score of 1-12 for both teams. Bereaved

The death has taken place of Marina Lester in Leicestershire, England. She was sister of James Corcoran, James St., to whom sympathy is extended.

Cemetery Mass

The annual Mass will be celebrated in Kilkinure Cemetery next Friday, August 2, at 7.30pm. A collection will be taken up at the gates to help with the general upkeep of the cemetery, your support is appreciated.

Win for U14 team

In Round 1 of the U14 championship Kiltimagh had a 5-12 to 5-8 win over Breaffy played in Breaffy last week. After winning the East Mayo championship and the county league this was a great boost for these young lads at the start of the county chmapionship.

Bereavement support

The Knock Shrine Bereavement Support Group meet every Wednesday at 11am at the Family Centre, Knock. Following a family bereavement you can feel very lonely. Sometimes spending time with others who know the experience can be helpful. Further information from Monica Morley 094 9375320.

Rural Social Scheme

There are Rural Social Scheme vacancies in Kiltimagh/Bohola/Midfield area. Scheme provides a supplementary income for low-income farmers and fishermen/women. To participate in the scheme, you must be 25 years or over, getting Farm Assist or if you are actively farming or fishing, you may qualify for the scheme if you are also getting one of the six qualifying social welfare payments. Moy Davitts 50/50 draw
