After the Senior Ladies raised €1,555 for Kelly's Walk 2 Rome, Cathal was joined on his epic pilgrimage by Swinford GC member Mark Fulham and his wife Therese Smyth. Here they are pictured arriving at the famous Ponte Coperto Bridge in Pavia. Another Swinford GC member, Noel Smith, along with Joe Mellet have subsequently joined Cathal on his pilgrimage. Kellys Walk 2 Rome

Cathal is now into the 13th week of his epic 2200kms walk from Canterbury to Rome in aid of Mayo Parkinson's Assoc and Children's Health Foundation Crumlin. With just over 650kms left to walk to St Peter's Square in the Vatican, Cathal is soon entering the last 4 weeks of this incredible journey having so far walked over 1550kms. Cathal could not have reached this far without all the incredible support he is receiving on a daily basis from Swinford people at home and all around the world. Alice Maher talk

Enjoy an evening of culture and conversation with one of Ireland’s most respected and influential contemporary artists from 7 to 9pm this Culture Night, Friday, September 20. This ‘in conversation’ style event with Alice Maher takes place at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar. Breda Mayock will interview Alice and discuss her iconic ‘Bee Dress’ (1994) which is going on special display at the museum. Admission is free but booking is required. The late Andrew (Andy) Vesey

The death took place of Andrew Vesey, Barroe, Carracastle on September 2, peacefully at his home with his loving wife Josie by his side. He is pre-deceased by his parents John and Mollie, and his brothers James and Jack. Andy will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife Josie, brother William, sister Bernadette, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Andy reposed in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, on Thursday, September 5, followed by removal at 7pm to St. James’ Church, Carracastle, for Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, September 13,at 11.30am, followed by interment in Carracastle cemetery. May Andy rest in peace as sympathy is offered to all bereaved by his passing.
