The annual general meeting of Ballintubber GAA Club will be held in Clogher Clubrooms on Sunday evening, November 10, at 5pm. All who support the club and participate in its activities are asked to be in attendance. Kilmovee beat Ballintubber in an U21Round 1 Match played at Ballintubber Centre Pitch on Sunday morning week last. The final score was 1-12 to 1-10.
Congratulations to Ballintubber Bord na nÓg on winning the Homeland U13 league Division 2 on Saturday week last in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence. The final score was Ballintubber 3-15, Béal an Mhuirthead 4-06. Well done to the team and management. Congrats to Ballintubber U15s on getting through to the Division 1 county final on Sunday week last in Clogher. Ballintubber had a resounding victory winning against Castlebar Mitchells 3-13 to 1-5. The team were highly impressive on the day. Best wishes to the team and mentors in the county final.
Ballyglass FC will hold its awards night on next Sunday week, October 27, at 9pm in the Carra Lodge. There will be music and finger food on the night and all are welcome.
A 25 Drive (singles hands with 16 games) started in Carnacon Community Centre on Thursday night, October 17, at 8.30pm. There is a raffle and refreshments served after the game. There will be a special prize for the person with the greatest number of games, and the least number of games at Christmas. All card players are welcome.
The next “What’s the Story?” storytelling event in the popular series will be on next Saturday, October 26, when Ballyglass Community Centre (F12D500) welcomes the renowned singer songwriter, John Spillane. In an effort to keep the beautiful village of Ballyglass looking her best, a group of volunteers will meet at the community centre every Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30 for a clean-up. The death occurred last week of Sean Keane, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, Claremorris Co. Mayo. Sean passed away peacefully at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar on October 9. His passing is an occasion of great sorrow to his family and many friends in the local community. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Ellen, and by his brother Pat, he is deeply regretted by his sisters Rose Keane (Parke) and Eileen Collins (Glenrothes, Scotland), his brother Seamus Keane (Sydney), his brothers-in-law Billy Keane and Joe Collins, sister-in-law Loretta Keane (Sydney), nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours to whom sincere condolences are tendered.
Sean’s remains reposed at St. Mary’s Funeral Home, Tourmakeady on the Friday evening from 5.30 with removal at 7pm to St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 12, at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Ar dheis De go raibh a nAinm.

The Community Foundation Ireland Biodiversity Fund is now open for applications. There are two strands to this year’s grant round:
community groups are invited to apply for a grant to engage an ecologist and develop a Community Biodiversity Action Plan (CBAP) for their local area. Residents Development Associations and Tidy Towns Groups who have a Community Biodiversity Action Plan can apply for funding to implement recommendations contained in it.

The death took place last week of Fiona Commons, Derrowel, Balla. Fiona passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a long illness, bravely fought and in the wonderful care of the staff at the Mayo Roscommon Hospice. Predeceased by her mother Catherine Commons (nee Hughes), her infant brother Bernard, grandparents, aunts and uncles, she is deeply regretted by her father Bernard, sister Niamh and brothers Damien and Barry, sister-in-law Rose, Niamh’s fiancé Ronan, aunts, uncles, aunts-in-law, uncles-in-law, cousins and many friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.
Fiona’s remains reposed at Gilligan's Funeral Home, The Square, Claremorris, Co Mayo on the Saturday evening from 5 to 7pm. The removal of her remains from her home took place on the Sunday to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace and St Gerald, Mayo Abbey, Co Mayo for Funeral Mass at 12.30pm. Burial ceremonies took place afterwards in Balla Cemetery. May she rest eternally in the peace and happiness of heaven.

On next Sunday, October 27, the Clogher Environmental Group are organising a Halloween Tractor Run to start and finish at the community centre F12EK24. The entry fee is €20. Registration starts at 4pm and the run starts at 5pm. Afterwards there will be a mini tractor run for children and a free Halloween movie in the hall.
