Ballinrobe U21 team who booked their place in the U21(B) championship semi-finals, following a 1-19 to 0-14 victory against Knockmore, at Flanagan Park.
Well done to the Ballinrobe U21 team who booked their place in the U21 (B) championship semi-finals, following a 1-19 to 0-14 victory against Knockmore, at Flanagan Park, on Sunday week last. Ballinrobe led 0-13 to 0-4 at half-time, and despite a spirited second half comeback by Knockmore, the Robesiders held on to record the victory.
The annual general meeting of Ballinrobe Civic, Arts and Amenity Centre will take place on Monday, December 1, at 8pm, in the Parish House. All are welcome to attend.

The winner of a recent ladies nine hole golf competition was Carmel Maloney. The results of a ladies 15 hole competition were as follows: 1st Carmel Maloney (37), 2nd Peggy Butler (31).
Results from the Harry Walsh gent’s competition were as follows: 1st Damien Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Kieran Mitchell, and James Donovan. The winner of the nine hole mixed scramble competition was the team of Paddy Murphy, Tom Hughes, and Margaret McHugh.
The Ballinrobe Women’s Shed Group meets every Monday from 11am to 1pm, in the building adjacent to the Water Towers, Kilmaine Road, (Eircode F31 XK09). The group is open to women aged 18 and over. Those taking part can share their skills and talents, have a chat, and a cup of tea/coffee. New members are welcome. The Men’s Shed group meets every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 12.30pm, in the building adjacent to the Water Towers, Kilmaine Road, (Eircode F31 XK09). This group is open to men aged 18 and over, with new members welcome. A range of activities take place including: music, woodwork, pottery, gardening, and is also open to men who just want to call in for a chat and a cup of tea/coffee. An internet safety workshop hosted in association with Cloonliffen Parents Association, will take place in Ballinrobe Library, on Thursday, November 27, at 7pm. The guest speaker will be Brendan Smith, who has experience of supporting families in the digital age. The event will cover mobile phones, games and internet safety for children and will offer practical information and guidance for primary and secondary school guardians. All parents and guardians are welcome.
Ballinrobe Town AFC thank Tesco Ballinrobe for running a blue token community fund collection for the club. A total of €491 was raised and the club thank everyone who supported the collection.
There was no winner of the €10,700 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, November 17. The numbers drawn were 12, 18, 22 and 26. The match three winners (€100) were Ewan Duffy, Suzanne Breen, John Flannery, Tara O’Connor, and Niall Tierney.
The AGM of Ballinrobe GAA Club will take place on Saturday, November 29, in the Carra Bar, at Ballinrobe Racecourse. Proceedings will get underway at 7.30pm. New members are welcome.
The Ballinrobe Junior men’s team suffered a heart-breaking last-minute defeat against Corrib on Friday night in Headford, in what was a hard-fought encounter played in windy and bitterly cold conditions. Corrib’s late second half try secured a 22-17 victory for the locals.
Ballinrobe Rugby Club held its weekly 50/50 draw on Sunday, November 16, with Lisa Macken the winner of €385. Tickets for the draw can be purchased in Martin Murphy’s Newsagent, and Murphy’s Centra.
There was no winner of the €10,900 lotto jackpot draw which was held in Garrymore, on Sunday, November 16. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 19 and 25. The €50 winners were Peter Burke, Scardaune; Gary Golden, Thomastown, and Sarah Kelly, Ballyhaunis.

The numbers drawn in the Mayo Gaels lotto which was held on Tuesday, November 18, were 13, 16, 25 and 32. There was no jackpot winner. The €30 consolation prize winners were Nuala Heneghan, Mountpleasant (online ticket), Peter Mannion, Knockrickard (annual ticket), Tom Henry, Facefield (online ticket), Tommy Griffith, Brownhall (annual ticket). Now that the time has changed and the evenings are getting darker, a lot more people are out walking and jogging. Unfortunately a lot of people are not wearing hi viz vests, so as part of an initiative by Facefield Community Group and Mayo Sports Partnership they are promoting a ‘Be safe Be seen’ programme and on Sunday, November 30, Facefield community will host a 6km round the lakes walk/ run at 2pm and Mayo Sports Partnership will be there to hand out hi viz vests to all participants. It is hoped that schools and various youth groups in the county will support the event.

The Wednesday Get-Together Group are having their coffee morning/cake sale fundraiser. This will take place on Sunday, December 7, in St. Aidan’s immediately after 11am Mass. The group thank all those who supported them so generously last year and in particular those whose quality baking couldn’t be resisted. Looking forward to seeing you all on December 7.
