Frozen: The Musical 

 Ballinrobe Musical Society have selected the following principal cast for their upcoming production of Frozen: The Musical: Elsa - Sarah Corcoran, Anna - Lorna Dennehy, Kristoff - Enda Mulchrone, Olaf - Ethan McNea, Hans - Jamie Callanan, Pabbie - Emma Loscher, Bulda - Eimear McGovern, Oaken - Niall Conway, Weselton - Richard Crumlish, Queen Iduna - Aoife Kilcullen, King Agnarr - Michael Coen, Young Elsa - Robin Morley-Manning, Young Anna - Rhea May Murphy, Hidden Folk Children - Alanna Gallagher, Lauren Kelly, Aoife Duggan, Meadhbh Ruane.

A spokesperson for Ballinrobe Musical Society said: “We would like to thank every single person who showed up for auditions in Ballinrobe Parish Centre. We have been blown away by the interest in this show and we were privileged to hear and witness such incredible talent at the auditions. We are beyond excited to begin rehearsing for this amazing show.” Ballinrobe Musical Society’s production of Frozen: The Musical will take place in Ballinrobe Community School from Easter Sunday, April 5, to Saturday, April 11. Frozen: The Musical features some much-loved songs from the film, including ‘Let It Go’, ‘For The First Time In Forever’, and ‘Do You Want To Build A Snowman?’, as well as several songs written especially for the musical theatre adaptation.

Information on how to purchase tickets for the show will be announced in due course.

Regional Bridge qualifiers

At the Bridge regional team qualifiers which were held in Kiltimagh, on Sunday, January 11, the team of Ian and Niall Kilroy, William Enright and Angela Murphy were the winners of the master’s section. The team will now play in the All-Ireland final which will take place in Portlaoise on the week ending April 18/19. Well done from all your friends at Ballinrobe Bridge Club.

Living Well

Living well is a free HSE programme for adults with long-term health conditions. A new six-week programme (running one day a week) will commence in Ballinrobe on Tuesday (today), January 20, from 10.30am to 1pm. The programme can be completed online or in-person and is delivered by trained leaders. Those taking part will learn self-management skills and confidence to live well with their health conditions and learn from each other’s experiences.

Ballinrobe GAA and LGFA Club registration

Membership of Ballinrobe GAA and LGFA is now open for the upcoming season. All membership details and payment options are available through the Ballinrobe Club App which can be downloaded from the Apple or Google play store. Various membership options are available to suit all members and families.

All playing members are not covered to train or play games under the GAA Injury Benefit Fund until membership has been paid in full. New members or anyone with any other queries, are asked to contact Paul McElarney by emailing treasurer.ballinrobe.mayo@gaa.ie.

Dinner Dance

Ballinrobe GAA and LGFA will hold the club’s annual dinner dance and awards night in The Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on Saturday, February 7, commencing at 7pm. Tickets cost €60 per person and can be purchased on the Ballinrobe GAA Club App. U18’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Ballinrobe minor players take part in charity match

Congratulations to Ballinrobe minor players Caelan Tansey, Rossa Burke, Jack Philbin, Callum O'Connor, Brian Lynagh, Mikey Maloney, Aaron Crowley and Sequoyah Duffy, who took part in the South Mayo Minor Charity game in aid of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation. The match was between two south Mayo selections and was held in Hollymount, on Saturday night, January 10.

Ballinrobe GAA Club lotto

There was no winner of the €11,300 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, January 12. The numbers drawn were 16, 20, 24 and 32.

Connacht Rugby referee course

Connacht Rugby Referee Development Manager Andrew Fogarty will run a trainee refereeing course for those interested in becoming a referee. The course will take place at the Dexcom Stadium, College Road, Galway, on Saturday, January 31, from 10am to 2pm. Table quiz

Ballinrobe Rugby Club will hold a table quiz on Friday, January 23, at 9pm, in Art O’Neill’s bar. The quiz is in aid of the club’s U18 boys’ team, and there will be a raffle and prizes on the night. Tables of four cost €40. Your support for this fundraiser would be appreciated.

Ballinrobe Rugby Club 50/50 draw

The club held its weekly 50/50 draw on Sunday, January 11, with Shane Watson the winner of €455. Tickets for the draw can be purchased in Martin Murphy’s Newsagent, and Murphy’s Centra.

Garrymore GAA Club lotto draw

There was no winner of the €11,500 lotto jackpot draw which was held in Garrymore, on Sunday, January 11. The numbers drawn were 2, 12, 31 and 35. The €50 winners were Tom Walsh, Farmhill; Siobhan Heaney, Ballyglass, and Kathleen Nally, Bushfield.

Cong Moytura Heritage Society -Spring Talk Series 2026 

What is the link between the cup of tea and climate change? Demystifying Climate Change: What is climate change and what actions can be taken at household level to address it?

A talk will be given by Jacinta Barrins, a retired UN Diplomat and Climate Mentor from Galway, at 8pm, on Thursday, January 29, in The Crossroads Community Centre Cong, Co Mayo, F31 PY97. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served and donations towards the work of the Heritage Society will be appreciated.

Mayo Gaels 2026 Calendar

" Mayo Gaels 2026 Calendar" is out now, celebrating a wonderful year for the club and parish. There are a few remaining for anyone who wishes to purchase one. Community Services

Why not go to the Community Coffee Morning every Thursday for a cuppa, a chat and some freshly baked scones. No booking is necessary. The social dinner takes place every Tuesday but must be booked in advance.

Islandeady

Community Council meeting

The monthly meeting of Islandeady Community Council due to take place on January 12, was postponed until January 19, as a mark of respect to the passing of their esteemed member Kathleen Feeney on Friday, January 9. Kathleen was one of the longest serving members of the community council and was most loyal and dedicated to all community endeavours and activities. She was especially admired for her meticulous attention to keeping accounts in her position as treasurer. She was a very pleasant and popular lady evident by the many past and present members who formed a 'Guard of Honour' at her removal. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

The community council express sincere condolences to her sisters Margaret and Nora and their families.

GAA lotto

There was no winner of the last Islandeady GAA lotto draw held on Sunday, January 11. The latest draw took place next Sunday, January 18, in the Key West, when the jackpot was €12,100.

Card game

Results of the game held on Monday, January 12, were 1st prize shared by Ed Muldoon and John Walsh, 2nd prize shared by Sean Carney, Mag Needham and Frank Sammon, 3rd prize shared by Dominic Mulchrone, Jimmy Ruane, MaryO’Malley, Thomas Conroy, June Costello, Bridie Walsh and Phil Keane. Raffle winners were Michael Moore, Brendan Gibbons, Thomas Conroy and Kathleen Clarke. The game continues every Monday night in Islandeady Community Centre at 8.30pm. Refreshments will be served.

Yoga

Yoga classes at Jack’s Cottage takes place every Wednesday evening starting at 6pm, with pregnancy yoga from 6-7.05pm, Yin Yoga from 7.30-8.30pm. Booking is essential, so please contact Emma on 087 997 3357.
