Enniscrone Kilglass intermediate team got their Connacht Gold Sligo Intermediate Football Championship off the mark in the second-round game against St Patrick’s.
The game took place at St Brendan’s Park, Corballa, on Saturday evening, August 24. There was a large travelling support from both sides on a rain-free evening in contrast to the earlier part of the day. There was, however, a very strong crosswind which left conditions rather difficult for both sides.
The half-time score was 0-3 to 0-3 and there was little between the teams in the second half. As the clock ticked down, St Patrick’s got an equalising point before they managed to get the all-important goal in injury time to win on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-8.
Enniscrone Kilglaas did win a free very late on and their supporters were hoping for an equaliser like the league final but that was not to be. It was a game that could have gone either way but the lads will rue the many wides, particularly in the first half. Their next fixture is on Saturday, September 7, against Coolaney/Mullinabreena in Tourlestrane.
Team: Ethan Carden, Cian Mulrooney, Josh Ellis, Cathal Mullaney, Adam Mullaney, Tommy Quinn, Brandon Fitzgerald, Donal Mullaney, Nathan Hannan, Brian Duffy, Ciaran O’Dowd, Oisin Finnerty, Gavin Duffy (0-7) (0-5f), Brian Coleman, Aaron Duffy. Subs used: Robert Jacon, Joseph Martin.
The Enniscrone Kilglass U17 team had a very comfortable win in their B1 championship home game against St John’s on Thursday, August 22. The full-time score was 2-14 to 0-4.
