Step into the spirit of the Camino... Achill style

Slievemore to Dooagh Way: A scenic 10km loop featuring coastal views, wild terrain, and historic sites.
Achill Tourism is delighted to announce the return of its walking festival, known as the Achill Camino Challenge.
This unique two-day walking festival takes place on August 30th and 31st.
Inspired by the spirit of the Camino, this event invites walkers from near and far to experience Achill’s dramatic landscapes, rich heritage, and warm community spirit. The Achill Camino Challenge features three long-distance walks, each highlighting the diverse beauty of Achill and the surrounding areas:
● Slievemore to Dooagh Way (Saturday AM): A scenic 10km loop featuring coastal views, wild terrain, and historic sites, including the iconic Deserted Village.
● The Coffin Way (Saturday PM): An 18km route from Dookinella to Derreens, tracing an ancient funeral path along cliffs and Atlantic vistas, steeped in folklore and tradition.
● Greenway and Forest Way (Sunday AM): An 18km walk from Mulranny to Achill Sound, combining forest trails, open landscapes, and the stunning Great Western Greenway.
Participants will be led by expert local guides, offering insights into Achill’s folklore, history, and natural environment. A commemorative keepsake will be awarded to those who complete all three routes. The festival will include an evening social gathering, complete with live traditional music and an opportunity to share stories and celebrate the journey. Start locations vary per route, with transport arranged for the Coffin Way and Forest Way. Walkers of all experience levels are welcome, with routes ranging from moderate to strenuous.
