Electronic music night at Ballina Arts Centre

Electronic music night at Ballina Arts Centre

Ballina Arts Centre is one of just six venues to host the event.

Ballina is to be part of a series of musical evenings which will take place at six different venues along the Atlantic coast from Letterkenny to Cobh.

Electric Circus presents ‘Driftworks,’ a concert of new electronic music that will be performed in six venues along the Atlantic Edge. Each concert is unique as the programme varies from venue to venue. Anchored in the locality, and featuring the vibrant, voices of some of Ireland’s leading composers and performers, each event will reveal a new and shifting tide of sound.

The programme specially crafted for Ballina Arts Centre features electroacoustic music and performances by Robert Curgenven, Ailís Ní Ríain, Amble Skuse, Brona Martin and Peter O’Doherty. Audiences will encounter the uncompromising voices of Robert Curgenven, known for site-specific works that harness architecture and weather to sculpt immersive sonic environments; Ailís Ní Ríain, whose bold, textural compositions bridge concert music, installation, and experimental electronics; Amble Skuse, combining live electronics, improvisation, and spoken word in works that explore identity and technology; Brona Martin, crafting spatial electroacoustic pieces from narrative, field recording, and multichannel sound; and Peter O’Doherty, whose multidisciplinary practice merges sound, performance and experimental electronics to create evocative new listening experiences.

This evening of discovery promises a new and exciting way to experience music. The concerts are supported by The Arts Council. The Ballina event will take place on Thursday, September 25th, at 8pm. Tickets priced €10 (plus booking fee)/Concession: €8 (+booking fee) are available on the Arts Centre's website or from the box office on 096-73593.
