Dance, drama and jazz workshops in Ballina
Earth Fall is a contemporary dance theatre and aerial performance piece created by the company Undercurrent.
If you are interested in dancing for fun, learning jazz vocalisations, or improving your acting skills, then the Ballina Arts Centre has a workshop for you this autumn.
The first event takes place on August 29th with Kate Wilson, the director of dance troupe, Undercurrent.
Kate and her team will host a cultural dance celebration in the form of a fun workshop which is free and open to all ages.
The event promises to be an intercultural celebration of the joy of dance - and of community. The day will include tasters of African, Hip Hop, and Passinho dance, as well as Irish Sean Nós techniques and circle dancing. It will close with a cultural, open-floor, where facilitators and participants can share their favourite dance styles and cultural dances. So, prepare to get involved, and bring along a tune for your dance. No previous experience is needed, and all are welcome.
This autumn, the 2026 navigator artist-in-residence at the centre is jazz vocalist and songwriter, Jennifer McMahon. Jennifer is a Dublin based singer, producer, performer and educator. She holds a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance and a BH (HONS) in Jazz Performance.
She is looking forward to spending time in Ballina, bringing her latest piece of work to the next level, and will be offering a workshop during her residency, so do check out the website for details.
Finally, at the close of the autumn season, Back Yard Theatre Ensemble (BYTE) will be visiting the centre with their latest show and offering a theatre workshop for young adults. Once again – watch the website for details!
