Busy month ahead at the Linenhall

An upcoming theatre highlight at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is the one-man bio-drama Trawled, written and performed by Eoin Ryan, on Friday, March 8th. The epic story of Ryan’s backpacking adventure working on a prawn trawler on Australian waters is brought vividly to life. Told in raw, uncompromising language, this is a riveting tale of adventure, crisis and brutality, culminating in an unforgettable moment of redemptive grace.

Comedian Gearóid Farrelly’s new show, Glamour Hammer, will be staged in the Linenhall on Friday, March 29th. For his latest tour, Gearóid takes a look at the litany of things in our lives that just don’t measure up. Everything from his generic-looking cat to Shania Twain. Irish favourite Farrelly has previously supported international comedy stars including Joan Rivers and Sarah Millican.

The latest Linenhall Film Club instalment, La Syndicaliste, screens on Tuesday, February 27th. This gripping corporate and political thriller reveals the real-life story of Castlebar native Maureen Kearney. The head union representative of a French multinational nuclear powerhouse who became a whistle-blower, Kearney denounced top-secret deals that shook the French nuclear sector. At first a victim, Maureen becomes a suspect and has no choice but to fight to clear her name.
