Torrential rain doesn’t dampen spirits at Mayo Championships
The underage members of Claremorris AC who took part in the Mayo Track and Field Championships which were held at their local track.
The Mayo Track and Field Championships, sponsored by Westnet, were held in Claremorris recently, with a large number of athletes from all corners of the county and from under-12 right up to senior level, competing in an array of events. It was especially pleasing to Ballycastle AC taking part in competition again after a short break.
Weather conditions ebbed and flowed with the four seasons competing against each other on the day. Indeed the volunteer officials were to be applauded for helping to ensure that all the athletes got through all their events and for whipping out their stopwatches, notebooks and umbrellas when the rain damaged the camera for the photo finish, all helping to guarantee the programme was completed despite the torrential rain.
