Town and Kilmore claim Mayo Women's League titles

Castlebar Town were crowned Premier Division champions in the Eco Powered Cabinets Mayo Women's League on Friday evening following a 2-0 win over Manulla.
The opening half was keenly contested, with chances for both sides, but it took until six minutes into the second half for a goal to come.
The Dowling sisters, Louise and Cliodhna, linked up, with Cliodhna getting on a delightful through ball to score. And Cliodhna had her boot behind the ball again on 54 minutes, with Louise again providing the assist, as Town went into a 2-0 lead.
Niamh Flannery came closest for Manulla with a long-range effort 10 minutes later, but the ball was tipped over the crossbar.
There were to be no more goals, with worthy champions Castlebar Town celebrating as Manulla's hunt for six in a row titles came to an end.
Meanwhile, down the road in Killala, two goals from Annie Lynskey secured the win for Kilmore as they were crowned Division 1 champions.
It took an hour to break the deadlock, with Lynskey putting the visitors 1-0 up from the penalty spot.
Alva Munnelly responded on 72 minutes for Killala, but a high ball in from Lynskey deceived the 'keeper 10 minutes later as she earned her side a 2-1 win and the title.
Elsewhere, Division 2 champions Ballina Town enjoyed a 5-1 win away to Glenhest Rovers having not dropped a single point this season, with just one league game left to play.
Straide & Foxford and Swinford had a good tussle down by the Moy, 3-3 the result there in a game that saw five goals in the first half.
Swinford were leading 3-2, but Fiona Doherty's second score of the evening on 75 minutes ensured a share of the spoils for S&F.
Attention next weekend in the women's league turns to the divisional cup finals in Milebush. Ballina Town play Achill Rovers on Saturday evening in the Division 2 Cup final, with Killala and Kiltimagh Knock United facing off on Sunday morning in the Mary Walsh Cup final, and Castlebar Town looking to making it a hat-trick of wins this season over holders Manulla in the Rumley Cup.
