The countdown is well and truly on to one of the biggest nights annually in Mayo Sport – the Western People Mayo Sports Stars Awards.

This year’s gala presentation banquet is taking place on Saturday, February 7, at Breaffy House Resort.

The special guest for this year’s awards function is none other than Kerry GAA legend Tomás Ó Sé.

A winner of five All-Ireland SFC titles, 10 Munster SFC titles and three National Football League titles with the Kingdom, Ó Sé has since become a hugely respected and entertaining Gaelic football pundit for RTÉ through his work on The Sunday Game.

The principal of Gaelscoil de hÍde in Fermoy, County Cork, Tomás Ó Sé picked up no fewer than five All-Stars during his glittering inter-county career.

His attendance at the 2025 Western People Mayo Sports Stars Awards is warmly anticipated. The awards have been running annually since 1970, during which time some outstanding individuals, teams and triumphs have been celebrated – and the 2025 inductees deservedly take their place amongst those.
