Mayo woman wins Gold at National Senior Indoor Athletics Championships

Swinford AC's Michaela Walsh dominated the women’s shot put taking home the gold medal at the National Senior Indoor Athletics Championships which took place last weekend at the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown.

Swinford AC's Michaela Walsh dominated the women’s shot put taking home the gold medal at the National Senior Indoor Athletics Championships which took place last weekend at the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown.

Michaela’s winning throw of 15.03m was a national lead (the furthest any Irish athlete has thrown in 2024) and was a full metre ahead of the silver medallist.

This is Michaela’s seventh national indoor title in a row.

Michaela has had a fantastic start to her 2024 season as she also represented Ireland two weeks ago at the Loughborough International Indoor Open where she took first place in her pool in the women’s shot put.
