In a shock move, Cork City FC have announced the return of Ruairí Keating to the club on a multi-year contract.
The 29-year-old attacker, who grew up in Westport, returns to City, where he scored 13 league goals last season, following a spell at St Patrick’s Athletic.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, Keating said: “I genuinely can’t explain how happy I am to be back at City. I absolutely loved my time at the club before, and I am absolutely thrilled to be coming back. I just can’t wait to pull on a City jersey and play at Turner’s Cross again in front of the amazing City fans. This club is very special to me and I am just so, so happy to be back home. I just want to get back to playing football again. I am looking forward to getting into training tomorrow; we have some big games coming up and I cannot wait to get started.”
Westport native Conor Walsh has also joined First Division side Wexford FC on loan from Sligo Rovers. The 19-year-old goalkeeper has made six Premier Division appearances already for Sligo, before going on loan to Finn Harps for the first half of this year where he made another six appearances.
Walsh has represented Ireland at U15, U16, U17 and at U19 level.
