Mayo basketball clubs set for BIDL opener

Merry Monk Ballina’s senior team get their season underway when they travel to Sligo to take on Atlantic Eagles in the opening round of the Basketball Ireland Development League.
Having captured the BIDL Plate last April, Derek Cunningham’s side will be looking to make their first steps on a return journey to Tallaght and reach the Cup final. Tip-off is this Saturday at 7pm in The Ursuline College, Sligo.
It has been an impressive start to the season for the Ballina club. Their U20 side won their opening league game at home against Athlone earlier this month and followed it up with a huge win in the capital against St Vincents in the cup a week later.
Elsewhere, Mayo Meteors also get their BIDL season underway this weekend with a home game against Shannon Jets. Tip-off is at 7pm on Saturday in the De La Salle Hall.
