Athletics: Mayo AC’s Mary Browne was a member of the Irish team who ran a new World Masters 4x800m indoor F65 relay record in Abbotstown, Dublin.
Mary was joined on the relay team by Mary Jennings of Waterford AC, Noreen Bonner of Finn Valley AC and Nuala Reilly of Drogheda and District AC.
They ran the relay in 14:16.72, almost 40 seconds better than the previous record which was held by a USA quartet who completed the event in 14:55.12 in March 2024.
Adding to their wonderful achievement is that just four days earlier, three of the team had run a tough 4,000 metres at the National Masters Cross Country Championships in Westport, where Mary Browne won silver in her category.
