'Magic McSharry' - social reacts to Sligo's Mona McSharry Olympics success

It was a historic night for Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry on Monday when she secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games.
McSharry beat Italy’s Benedetta Pinato to the post by just one-hundredth of a second in the 100m breaststroke final to earn a podium position.
The medal, which is Ireland's first in swimming since 1996, was also Team Ireland's first of this Paris Olympics.
The Grange native received plaudits from her county and beyond after her Olympics success - among those to pay tribute to the talented swimmer on social media was the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

Also commenting on McSharry's medal win was An Taoiseach Simon Harris who described the moment as "magic".
