Gravel Dash series is a roaring success

Capture the Cloth was one of the fun cycling games incorporated into the Gravel Dash Summer Series which was held over the course of five Monday evenings on the Clogher Loop.
Cycling: The Marrey Bikes Gravel Dash Series, held on Monday evenings during the summer months, has wrapped up after five exhilarating rounds, attracting over 80 participants, with 50 of them being enthusiastic young riders. Each round was unique, featuring a mix of fun team games like ‘Capture the Cloth’ and ‘Turf Wars’, alongside more structured graded handicap events. The series focused heavily on fun and participation, ensuring that every youth event was conducted in a safe and welcoming environment, free from the dangers of traffic. The venue's location, away from major roads, made it an ideal spot for skill development for both adults and youth alike.
The adult participants, primarily from local Mayo cycling clubs, competed in graded events divided into A and B categories. These events were timed, offering a competitive edge while still maintaining the series' inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
The Clogher Loop Walks, traditionally a network of paths for walkers and turf harvesters, found new life as a training ground for cycling enthusiasts. The local Clogher Environmental Group deserves significant praise for maintaining these paths in such excellent condition, reflecting the vibrant community spirit that was evident throughout the series. The Belcarra Cycling Club also played a crucial role, providing marshal cover for each round, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the events.
The Gravel Dash Series has truly left a lasting impression, transforming a beloved local track into a vibrant hub of activity. The participation and support from everyone involved was phenomenal, creating an unforgettable experience for all. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all participants and organisers whose efforts made this series a success and who have left everyone eagerly looking forward to more exciting events in the future.
