Works to start at pedestrian crossing near scene of fatal accident
Construction works are scheduled to start this week on a pedestrian crossing at Lord Edward Street in Ballina.
Mayo Co Council's senior executive engineer Orla Bourke told last week’s meeting of the Ballina Municipal District that she had received confirmation from the contractors that works would commence this week.
The proposed pedestrian crossing had been raised by Cllr John O’Hara and has been a long-running item on the Ballina Municipal District agenda.
“A family suffered an unfortunate bereavement at this location and they will be happy to see it starting and I welcome these works getting underway,” said Cllr O’Hara.
