WATCH: Dubai school pays homage to Mayo’s All-Ireland win

…And what’s more, it was all the idea of a Kerry man.

Mayo’s magnificent All-Ireland senior football final victory continues to be celebrated in all corners of the globe – including in the school corridors of Dubai.

This week at The Arbor School, as staff gathered for teacher training in advance of the return of their students, instead of the traditional ringing a bell to signal the end of training for the day it was decided to play music through the school’s loudspeakers instead – and the choice of song was none other than The Green and Red of Mayo by The Saw Doctors.

And behind the unexpected Mayo tribute was actually a proud London-Irish Kerry man Tom Moriarty, who is Head of Secondary at Arbor School. 

The good grace of Tom, who was only too delighted to celebrate Mayo’s All-Ireland victory despite seeing his beloved Kingdom beaten by the Green and Red in the final, was acknowledged by Foxford native Kathryn Keeshan (née Hennigan), who is the school’s Head of Primary and who had a front-row seat to the continuing Mayo celebrations thousands of miles from home.
