Unofficial bus stops are crazy, says councillor

A Mayo councillor has asked for an answer “once and for all” about the policy on where buses can stop along roadways.
Castlebar-based Cllr Donna Sheridan raised the matter at the July meeting of Mayo County Council, having asked for the information on several occasions before, and told management: “I cannot find any criteria or policy around where buses stop, but we know they can pull outside a private house, 500m down from an official stop, on top of a hill or a brow or wherever they feel like it," said the Fine Gael councillor. "It just seems crazy. I ask again, what are the criteria around where a bus can stop and can we get an answer on this for once and for all from Bus Éireann.”
Cllr Sheridan asked council management to raise the issue with the national bus company.
