Two Mayo hospitals move to next stage of proposed redevelopment

Minister Dara Calleary has welcomed confirmation that both Ballina and Belmullet District Hospitals are approved to move to the detailed design stage by the HSE.

"I am pleased to announce that both hospitals have been approved to move to detailed design in accordance with the HSE Capital Plan," Minister Calleary remarked.

"At Ballina, it is proposed to redevelop the hospital to a three-storey 75-bed facility. In Belmullet, a 50-bed facility is proposed."

He added: "It is the intention of the HSE to move both proposed projects to Detailed Design in 2024. I am very pleased with this progress and will continue working with the HSE and the Department of Health to deliver these upgrades to Mayo."
