Threat to block road over dangerous pedestrian crossing
Problems with the pedestrian crossing in Foxford will be looked at by Mayo County Council this month, Director of Services Tom Gilligan told the recent meeting of Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District.
Cllr Neil Cruise raised the issue, saying he "saw someone nearly getting killed” at the crossing as the Christmas lights were being taken down last week, telling management: “Something needs to be done. Is there a date for the design works on that crossing because if not, we will have to take it into our own hands and we are going to block the road. We were going to do it because this issue is being kicked down the road and going on for years. I want a date the consultation and proposed design will be published.”
Mr Gilligan reiterated: “I gave you a commitment: it will be done this month.”
