Ballina is such a good news story! From fishing to festivals and from history to culture, the town is bursting with enthusiasm, driven by people and organisations who are passionate about their town.
Ballina is home to a multitude of local characters, historians, sporting heroes, volunteers and activists. With so many organisations and voluntary groups doing their work quietly and effectively, Ballina is a great place to live, socialise, and experience. The River Moy may be one of the jewels in the crown, but the greatest jewels of all are the ordinary people and organisations who have done extraordinary things to make Ballina simply the best.
As part of the Ballina Salmon Festival 2024, Ballina Chamber of Commerce, Callan Tansey Solicitors, and Midwest Radio have come together to present the inaugural Best of Ballina Awards night in the Great National Hotel, Ballina on Tuesday, July 9. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Midwest Radio and nominations are now open.
What organisations or individuals in Ballina do you believe deserve to be honoured? Who has gone above and beyond the ‘call of duty’ to enhance the town? Who deserves to be publically acknowledged for their efforts and why? The organisers are asking the people of Ballina to nominate who they believe deserve recognition for what they have done or achieved for the town of Ballina.
To nominate a Ballina person or organisation, just email chamber@ballina.ie the reason you are nominating the person or organisation in no more than 200 words.
The closing date for nominations is Friday, May 17, at 5pm. A judging panel will select 10 recipients from all of the entries and the winners will be announced on the Tommy Marren Show on Midwest Radio on Friday, May 31, at 10.15 am.
The 10 winners will be honoured at a special ceremony on Tuesday, July 9th, in the Great National Hotel, at 8pm, supported by Ballina Chamber of Commerce and Callan Tansey Solicitors.
