Sinn Féin outlines its 'manifesto for Mayo'

Sinn Féin's two candidates in Mayo, Cllr Gerry Murray and Rose Conway-Walsh TD, are pictured with party leader Mary Lou McDonald on her recent visit to Castlebar.
Sinn Féin says its Mayo manifesto "underscores its determination to tackle the issues facing the county".
The manifesto, prepared by Rose Conway-Walsh TD and Cllrs Gerry Murray, offers fully-costed solutions for housing, healthcare, rural revitalisation and infrastructure upgrades.
"The housing crisis is ruining people’s lives, but it can be fixed with political will," said Cllr Murray. "Sinn Féin would initiate the largest public housing project ever undertaken in the state delivering 300,000 new homes over five years while enabling people to build homes in their own communities.
"We would deliver a 100% pyrite redress scheme and ensure a public inquiry.
"Our fully costed plan would revolutionise healthcare – ensuring access to GP and dental care and introducing 5,000 additional hospital beds by 2031, along with recruiting 40,000 medical and nursing staff and overhauling mental health and disability provision.
"We would prioritise the Western Rail Corridor and critical road upgrades and look after farmers and fishermen, appointing a dedicated Minister for Fisheries and the Marine.
"As Mayo voters make up their minds, our manifesto presents a blueprint that puts the county’s needs front and centre. It is time for real change. It is time to elect two Sinn Féin TDs for Mayo."
