Sewerage works proposed in Killala

A Killala councillor is calling on Uisce Éireann to prioritise sewerage remediation works at Chapel Lane in the town.

Cllr Jarlath Munnelly said the works would involve reconstructing the mains sewer serving the houses in the area. 

Submitting a motion at last week's meeting of Ballina Municipal District, Cllr Munnelly added: “This is an ongoing issue. When these houses were built the main sewer was put through the gardens at the back and when it gets blocked the residents have to clear it themselves and this is not really a solution, so I am asking the council to raise it as a matter of concern with Uisce Éireann to see can they include it in a small remediation scheme.” 

Cllr Annie May Reape seconded the proposal saying everyone in the area wanted the works to happen.
