Section of new major road project in the West to open this Easter
The N5 project, involving a 33km upgrade of road, runs between the Ballaghaderreen bypass and Scramogue, and will bypass Frenchpark, Tulsk, and Strokestown.
A section of the new N5 will open by Easter, as reported by the Roscommon Herald.
Roscommon County Council CEO Shane Tiernan confirmed the news at a council meeting on Monday.
Mr Tiernan informed councillors that the Frenchpark bypass is set to open by Easter "subject to safety verifications being signed off on before then".
He outlined that the exits and the entrances along this portion would have to be controlled for a number of weeks in order for works to be completed and "fully blended in".
This section of the new road is seven kilometres long.
